The red text he is talking is about is this:

In episode 2, Battler and Beatrice once in a while appear in the middle of the game (like spectators of a movie) and make comments about the incidents, each one trying to prove his point of view (criminal, witches, 19th person, whatever).

To give a chance to Battler, Beatrice makes a "deal"
Everything she "says" in red color, is true without a doubt.
So we can deduce that what is not in red (normal white), may be true or not.

Shotgun Rosa is a much more likeable character than in Ep1...also has quite a few good quotes.

If I remember correctly, somewhere on the oficial site, it says it works on Vista

However, I already saw a lot of bitching about sound novels on Windows Vista (with other games, in other forums)

I have my copy of Umineko but it won't play on Vista, I try playing the game on a Windows XP computer and I have the same problems

Those that have play the game, how did you guys installed it? Play it?
Do I need to install Japanese fonts on my computer?
I've tried that "Changing the language" thing but still doesn't work!

Please I need help! I really want to play this game -___-

There are some games that work even without japanese settings
But just in case, it's best to do these configurations

Without much spoilers

Since there's all that okinawa stuff (to me okinawa = summer), we could say it's somewhere between summer of that year (1983), like july and the family meeting, october.
Since George says something like 'NEXT family meeting I'll give the ring', and in fact, that's what happens later, it's 1983....

------

Edit:

haahaha

sorry

Replace 1983 for 1986, on the post above

Umineko takes place in 1986.

Although there's no clear indication as to when it happened, I agree with theacefrehley. Also, since Okinawa trip happened before school festival (Shannon talks to Jessica about that before talking about getting Kannon to go to the school festival), and school festival should be the same year of THE family meeting (they talked about that during one of the early chapter).

The mirror in the shrine scene can really take place anytime before summer of 1986.

I take that as those 'comments of the director' tracks on some DVD's

Like an alternative/parallel universe that has no contact with the main story
And they say nothing about golden village and such...
Maybe they'll say something about it in future episodes (I don't think so...) but there's nothing solid for now

And that ep1 tea party can't be taken seriously, really
They talk like actors who just shot a movie

I agree, it is really like a "What if", pretty similar to the "otsukare party" from Higurashi.
It is interesting to see how the characters would react if they were in "our" place.

I doubt that the tea parties are completely outside the story. The When They Cry series has always been best when it hides the true story behind several false ones, which is why they were able to write 8 games in Higurashi which, in the end, were all based on the same scenario. The problem is that now, all of the fans expect the unexpected. ryuukishi07 needs to think of a new twist completely different from the previous ones, and he can't afford to waste material. For me, the proof is that he choose to make the ???? from episode 1 unhidden in episode 2. I think the more interesting way to look at it isn't whether or not the tea parties were "real," but what it implies for the story if they are real. Same thing with the Higurashi references, although tsurupettan was so ridiculous that I'm not so sure anymore. Still, don't forget how we were introduced to Fredrica with the poems.
