That said, improving visual perception and muscular strength ARE possible things, just not through the methods you suggested.
Then where would you suggest I start researching this so as to come up with something better?

And really, I beg to differ, have I said that having the elemental affinity alone gives you A-rank attack skills?
You seemed to at least imply it with your last post:

Quote:
Honestly, most magic-enhanced attacks are in the range of A to AAA, possibly even S, which says a lot by themselves.
The implication is that B-rank or lower elemental attacks couldn't exist or are extremely rare, and that everyone with an elemental affinity has attacks that can match Shiden Issen or Thunder Rage.

Erio could use his affinity before he even recieved propper training. Even when the had been pegged a rank, he was B-rank and still used it just fine.

Research would prove limited in this case, since not many real people are Sentoukijins in the first place. That said, while I have suggestions that would suit your needs, they come also as great liabilities for Zero, something which I think you wouldn't want.

Regardless. Improving visual perception has never been done before in real life, simply because replicating the function of an eye is utterly difficult. You can do so either through bionic enhancement, or hypersensitizing the optical nerve. Both ways come with their own weaknesses. Bionic enhancements give you ... bionic vision (you replace the eyes with cyborg ones), though electric attacks or EMP will most probably make you go blind for good. Hypersensitizing the optical nerves give you rapid data acquisition for vision, but can harm your brain through visual overload or simply "frying" the nerves itself. Also, retinal damage can occur as a consequence of receiving too much input.

Muscular enhancement is easier, since most athletes do so. Watch the Olympics and you'll probably get lucky to see a few getting banned for breaching game rules. Anyway, the method is through periodical anabolic steroidal injection, which gives you a temporary boost of testosterone (or other anabolic steroids, for that matter). This accelerates muscular actions for a period of time. That said, anabolic steroid administration comes also at a great price, which you can probably look up yourself.

"Most", not "all". Had I meant to say "everyone with elemental affinity will have A-ranked attack or higher", I would say so. As far as canon is concerned, we've yet to see any character with said skill that has a magic-enhanced attack lower than A. Having the said skill usually gives them an additional rank right off the bat (I think so).

True, it will be unfair to say that there will not be elemental attacks less than A, but I'm saying this based on what we've already been given, so can't blame me for using what little we have.

Your suggestions are also horrifically outdated compared to what Mid-Childan science should be capable of, given their access to multiple universes worth of scientific advances. We're not dealing with modern science, Phoenix, we're dealing with a mad scientist outfitted with the absolute latest tech available to an interdimensional civilization. Since apparently you don't believe in the power of the SPARTAN project (never mind the very successful end results), and I'm not interested in creating random technobabble to explain how Zero was created, I'm going with the following explanation:

Me: "Zero's stronger, tougher, and has better eyesight than the average human because that's the way he was built."

You: "How exactly was he built?"

Me: "Dunno. Ask Light or Wily, they're the experts."

You: "But they're dead!"

Me: "Too bad. Guess that means nobody knows."

The best part is that this even fits in with X and Zero's construction in the Mega Man games: the reploids are based off of X's design, but X's (and Zero's) internal workings are a mystery even to those who've studied him.

Oh hey, I just realised, Zero's fully artificial anyway. Just built an artificial eye with better properties than a natural human one.

*Facepalm*

That was the intention right from the beginning. The problem is, Phoenix wants to know how it was made, and I'm not the least bit interested in whipping up an entire branch of scientific advances just to explain Zero's construction.

Blah, I don't see why 'artificial eye' wont work. Not everything has to be explained till its perfectly explainable with a dictionary.

It looks like he believes what you are doing is "enhancing" a human eye to be superhuman. All you had to do was state it was artificially manufactured to a higher specification than a human eye. That should have worked.

I think people are misunderstanding what it means to be a h4xxbuster. Being a h4xxbuster does not mean nitpicking every single detail, it means pointing out things that are overpowered and toning them down untill they fit canon. An artificial eye is perfectly acceptable.

Also, Zero is looking quite balanced in my eyes. Yes, he is powerfull in melee, but concidering he is uterly apaling in range, he should be. I don't see a reason to further badger on this one.

The multi-element IS though, if it is an Inherent Skill, that means his genetic base had a similar skill. But... since Zero does not have a genetic base, being fully artificial and all, how did he get an IS at all?

That's what the element chips are for, Kero; to replace Rainbow Spectrum by being much more feasible by Nanohaverse standards.

Right! On to Rico's rewrite, as soon as I edit Zero's entry a bit and get it posted in the OC index!

So in other words, the chips work somewhat like storage devices like Durandal, which is made especially to allow the casting of Ice-magic to become easier, but instead of making one ellement easier, these chips give the abillity to make multiple ellements easier castable at the cost of strength. Correct?

That's it exactly. Theoretically, these chips could be reproduced and applied to Zero's other weapons, or even to Zero himself, but Z-man doesn't have the technology or the know-how to replicate Wily's creations.

They call themselves wizards, knights, duskblades, warriors, and sorcerors. Priests, Mercenaries, Ship Captains, and Summoners, these people are all united by one thing: the ability to manipulate and wield the power of magic. Using their Linker Cores, the source of their magic, and their Devices, the focus of their casting, these people come from all walks of life and are bound to their magic. Whether they use it for honor, for justice, personal gain, or cruelty, magic is their calling. These are Linker Mages.

Linker Mage
Overview: People who can use magic, Linker Mages are people who have taken up the call of body, mind, and soul, in order to use and cast spells.

Adventures: Linker Mages go on quests depending on their situation. One on Non-Administered worlds usually do things around their planet, but those on Administered Worlds can take on all sorts of adventures. The majority, however, are mages of the Time-Space Administration Bureau.

Role: Since a Linker Mage is bound by his or her specialization, they do not have one defined role. All roles are available to such a person.

Abilities: Linker Mages have different primary stats depending on their specialization. Constitution and Wisdom are the most important in determining mana, however.

Alignment: Varies. Any mage can be of any alignment.

Hit Die: Default is d6. Depending on their tree of specialization, a Linker Mage may have more.
Class Skills: By default, a Linker Mage has Computer Use (Int), Profession (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int). They get more depending on their specialization.

Mana Pool: At first level, the Linker Mage gains a pool of mana equal to 10x (Constitution + Wisdom). Every level thereafter the mage gains (Constitution + Wisdom) mana.

Type-A Specialization: At first level, a Linker Mage must choose from a set of speclizations to choose from. Each specialization grants a set of abilities, as well as the types of magic the mage can use. At 10th level, Type-A Focus kicks in and allows more powerful spells to be cast.

- Melee: The mage has access to Melee-type attack spells at 1st level, and Magic-Enhanced Attack-type spells at 10th level.

- Ranged: The mage has access to Shooting-type attack spells at 1st level, and Bombardment-type Spells to be cast at 10th level.

- Mixed: The mage has access to both Shooting-type and Melee-type attack spells at first level, but at twice the cost. At 10th level, the mage can access either Bombardment-type spells OR Magic-Enhanced Attack Type spells, but not both.

In addition to these, all mages have access to Capture-type spells, Defensive spells, and Support spells. A fourth specialization, the Support type mage, excels in these three fields of magic, but it's not recommended for PCs to use them.

Type-B Speclization: Type-B abilities are extras that allow a mage to perform well at other fields without the need for magic (or in some cases, in spite of magic). The Type-B specializations modify many of the mage's abilities.

There are two Types of B-specs; B1 and B2. You can only take 1 B1 spec and 1 B2 spec.

B1
- Combat: The mage is proficient at combat. They gain 2+IN skill points every level (x4 at first) and have access to the following skills: Athletics (Str), Device Use (Int), Survival (Wis). The mage's hit die also change to d10, and their base attack bonus increases (+1 every level). Each skill also gets a +1 bonus every 3 levels.

- Stealth: The mage is a stealth specialist. They gain 6+IN skill points every level (x4 at first) and have access to the following skills: Acrobatics (Dex), Athletics (Str), Deception (Cha), Device Use (Int), Drive (Int), Gather Information (Int), Knowledge (Int), Perception (Wis), Pilot (Int), Sleight of Hand (Dex), Stealth (Dex). Each skill also gets a +1 bonus every 4 levels.

- Military: The mage is a practiced TSAB mage, expert in her MOS. She gains 4+IN skill points a level (x4 at first) and can choose from any eight skills. Hit die increases to d8. Unlike others, she does not get a plus one bonus to her skills.

- Investigator: The mage is adept at getting information out of people. She gains 4+IN skill points a level (x4 at first). Skills are Deception (Cha), Decipher Script (Int), Device Use (Int), Drive (Int), Gather Information (Int), Knowledge, Perception (Wis), Persuasion (Cha) and Sleight of Hand (Dex). Each skill gets a +1 bonus every 4 levels.

- There are other type-B1 specializations for NPCs, that will not be listed here.

B2:

Backstab: The mage knows the weak points on an enemy, gaining bonus damage with a melee attack any time the enemy is caught flat-footed. At first level, the mage gains a bonus +3 damage to his attack against a flat footed opponent, with an extra +3 every other level.

Diplomat: The mage's ability to talk to people is very good, allowing a +5 Persuasion and Deception bonus when talking to someone else.

Favored Enemy: The enemy gains a +2 bonus to attack and damage against an enemy of his choosing, which increases by 2 at levels 5, 10, 15, and 20.

Rage: Once per day, the mage can go into a rage as a barbarian, gaining +4 Strength and Constitution and -2 AC as well as the inability to cast spells. The rage lasts for as many rounds as your CN modifier. (Minimum 1)

Resilient: The mage has more hit points than normal for her type. +3 HP/level

Shapeshift: The mage has the ability to shapshift into an animal, losing the ability to cast spells but gaining abilities as per the animal.
Looks like your hard work got a bit overlooked amidst the Busting.
Jokes aside, lemme see if I can digest this a bit:

First of all, I really like the name Linker Mage. I'd be inclined to actually take this as a real name to use when differentiating from normal mages.

B1/B2 system is making more sense now that I have something concrete to look at.

You might wanna go just a little more into detail about the different stats and finer points of DnD; I realize this is very rough-draft, but don't know how many of us are familiar with the DnD rules, and things like that might be good to include if only as a quick future reference.

That's a minor nitpick, though, and I like how it's shaping up so far.

@Lowe: Whoa...tossing us a darker backstory behind some of the SUPAA SENTAI that's par? Well-done certainly.

Ah, someone I don't recognize. Excellent, you can help me with my next character concept!

*Drags FnS away to his secret character development broom close- *ahem* laboratory*

I'm not sure where exactly I heard this (probably Wikipedia), but Hayate's supposedly classified as a Mage Knight. Given that she's a user of the Ancient Belka system yet seems to specialize in massively-powerful ranged attacks, would it be feasible to make a character who is equally balanced in both melee and at range?

I ask because this is the concept I'm considering for Rico. Rico himself is a user of the Ancient Belka system, while his unison device, Nova, is a Mid-Childa user. Both are fire-elementals, Rico by birth and Nova by design. Instead of providing a massive power boost during unison, however, Rico gains full access to Nova's spell list, making him only slightly stronger (perhaps half a rank's power boost) and much more versatile as an opponent. His overall power ranking would be about AA+, and this added versatility would boost him into the AAA to S+ range.

On that note, tagging Keroko with Kyou's personallity does not mean she is exactly like Kyou. Keroko doesn't go around kicking people in the face for touching her stuff,

If that makes Keroko a tsundere, then I guess she is.
Well, there' classic tsundere, modern tsundere, tsundere-lite and various flavours nowadays for tsundere.

Well, I wouldn't say Keroko is a tsundere... but given the circumstances, she'd make a great one. :3

Actually I was paticular about that point because in my Khrack I clearly stated that Zone AKA Wodan was a Testarossa, and as Nighty's OC, he also reflected that in his profile,

so that's about the only problem there. As for her maiden name, that's for your creative licence to make it!

Now there comes the next problem, just thought of it: Spada is he considered a 97th Mage, or a Midchilda mage? I'd say Midchilda mage to avoid canon trouble. That's how I dodged

it with Allie. =3

Well, stronger for conventional is not totally wrong, but the strongest conventionals obviously don't come compact. The reasoning seems a little off, as it's more of who can use

rather than not.

Well-written piece and Kerono/Yuunoko = :3

Only visual, and I poke at the fact that Null = closet Disney fan.

And technically, conceptually, KH is Nanohaverse, witho4ut the lame blockades between worlds.

It's not strange to think TSAB ruling council might've invested in other science-projects as well, but the details behind how Scag came about is still up in the air, really. There's a 50-50 chance he was found, altered, created or whatever unnatural stuff.
