heh, now I'm starting to look forward to the new interpretation of Catwoman down the road. I haven't been happy with any version since Julie Newmar

Since I am not sure exactly where you are, here are some dates:
Australia: July 17, 2008
North America: July 18, 2008
United Kingdom: July 25, 2008

@ Vexx, we are in a complete agreement over this issue. Julie Newmar was the best Catwoman , follwed by Adrienne Barbeau (voice of Catwoman in the early 90s animated series), Michelle Pfeiffer, Eartha Kiit (who always looked like she desperatly wished she was somewhere else ), and then Lee Meriwether.

The Dark Knight

Surely this needs no introduction? Just in case.

http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/

Anyway I finished watching this a couple of hours ago (Australia ftw), this blew away Batman Begins... and I love that... Ledger was awesome but everyone pretty much knows that.. loved his magic trick... Bale was again great as Bruce Wayne though I'm still slightly annoyed with his really forced Batman voice. Freeman, Caine and Oldman were solid in their respective roles, Maggie was a much better Rachel than Holmes, Aaron Eckhart was pretty good as Harvey Dent.

Spoiler:

Really long movie too clocking in at around 150 minutes, I'm gonna go see this at Imax in a week or so, can't wait to watch it again. Is Bale signed up for one more film? Btw was there a scene after the credits? I can't be stuffed waiting lol..

Yeap, saw it this morning (Australia also) and it was great. I was suprised at how well Aaron Eckhart pulled off Harvey Dent. Hell everyone did a great job acting their roles. I'm going to have to agree with you on Batman's voice, I couldn't even make out what he was saying sometimes.

Overall, great movie. I suggest you people to see it ASAP.

Fair Warning: This is a bleak and sad movie, a Masterpiece though it may be.

Nope. But he tried so hard to be coarse and raspy voiced it made him sound like he smoked 3 packs a day for the last 3 years to prepare for it.

Bring a bottle or two of sedatives though, cos Heath Ledger's Joker WILL scare you so bad that you'll be shaking in your seat.

I've been stoked about this film for the longest time, though I'm going to have to pass on its opening tomorrow due to my dad, who wants to see it as badly as I do, being out of town for the day. So we'll go on Monday, since the theaters will likely be packed over the weekend.

I loved the first movie. I am no fan of comic book movies but it just impressed me so much. I'm almost damn sure this one will be even better.

My sons and a pack of friends are seeing at a midnight opener tonight.... I'd go but I just got OFF a third shift stint .... so blergh.

Besides, I'm tapped for seeing about two other movies with "she who is cute and must be obeyed", especially after running off to see Hellboy with "the children"...

Another Aussie living in the future here lol =P

Just recently got back from the film and it was definitely a great watch that had me on the edge of my seat, especially as it approached the end.

The star of the show was obviously without a doubt Heath Leadger as The Joker. He was so good that he actually scared me at times, no joke. The scene where he first explains his smiles (the one with the African-American mob boss) had me absolutely fearful. A worthy performance by Leadger well-fit as his last... such a shame and tragedy what happened to him though. May he RIP...

Spoiler for don't click if you don't want to be spoiled:

Overall a great movie, if not better. I thoroughly enjoyed it very much.

I have just come out of the "Dark Curtain" screening for The Dark Knight in London, and I'm blown away.

Nolan's directing is sublime, the pacing of the movie was so well kept, managing to keep the audience enthralled for around 2 and half hours. There were several shots in the film that had me saying "Now how in the hell did they do that?!". Brilliant scores by James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer. Every actor shines, no one person steals the film. Everyone was waiting to see how well Heath Ledger performed as The Joker. He definitely deserves an Oscar in his honor. I don't want to say much about it, because whatever is said cannot do it justice, there is enough hype surrounding it's release, but it's there for a reason. Top notch film. Bravo to Nolan and his crew for making a movie that Batman truly deserves.

Film of the year.

The actor seemed to do okay as Joker, but I'm afraid this will be yet another Batman Returns. Except that it's not Arnie who's the villain. Sure, it's nice to watch'n'forget, but I prefer movies with a real story and characters.

So you haven't seen it? If anything Nolan tried to not make it disposable entertainment. Hence the dark, gritty and realistic themes.
