I'm in the process of formulating some crack. It'll be distilled and posted later.

@USB: The Librarian and Meganekko Princess? I may or may not introduce them... I really need to think where I want to go with Library Wars.

Also, a diversion I need, because I'm getting a bit tired of traditional OC stuff - and it was only a matter of time before I made this:

Spoiler for Long Crack is Long:

Yes now Nanoha stuffs.... ergh coming later. <.<

I don't believe that SAFA members are all S+ or anything, but at the very least, I range their average from highly experienced AAs (( like that old grandma who decimated Fate/Nanoha )) to AAA+/- and such. And maybe one or 2 Zest-ish veteran S-rankers.

You've got to take into account that the Aces, while known for their skills, are also young, being the cream of the crop. AAA is extremely unnatural for a 9 years old, and S+ rank at 19 seems like a very high accomplishment even for geniuses.
Agreed.

Hmm, only Hikaru on my part, and she's going to be a mage, nothing extraordinary like a sentoukijin or some other 'secret weapon'

Though like I said, I haven't really found a role for her yet. I have to give her a clear purpose, otherwise I can't write with her.

Hmm, so you're basically doing the same we're doing here, only for the Macrossverse?

Sounds like a good idea, though my knowledge of Macross is very small, so I probably won't be much of a help. Grab and alter my OC's if you wish though.

Like to see what comes of this. It being so toasted from warfare gives me Khrack to throw in SOPCC, Nod and the Shadow Clan onto the planet for an explosive summer movie.

They were supposed to protect the place, right?), and the general defenses got fragmented.

It was a textbook example of a successful raid with inferior firepower but superior brainpower.
Several fingers point to insider work for that fiasco to even happen, and I believe it is so.

What I found appalling was after that. During the run up to Cradle's launch, Midchilda forces mounted practically a non-existent defence. And whatever Aces were stationed there, were next to useless save our Mary Sues.

I look at this and I facepalm. How does an organization like this administrate Time Space? 99% of the villains and aliens I've created will WTFpwn these lassies. As much as I wish that the TSAB has maybe an ounce of a horde army to make up for the sorry lack of power, but so far, it looks hopeless.

I guess I was right that a small detachment of Necrons could hold the counter-invasion force at bay with ease in CrosyS. And TSAB forces get slaughtered at Meggido.

Which also brings me to the next theory being pushed forward that the TSAB actually controls only a handful of stars, not the hundreds and hundreds AWs that we may have thought possible. Most of the worlds they've know of fall under NAW status, and this giant ring of desolate worlds is what's cushioning them from the harsh realities of the greater multiverse that destroyed an Empire that once truly administrated these worlds.

...which is why the TSAB is actually much more hopeless than we've made them to be. They can take on NOTHING outside their comfort zones. Because given the amount of spellshaping needed to battle the likes of Necrons, Spawn, Chaos Belka, heck even Thrall and his Space Orcs, these guys either need more gear, or need more levels.

So far all I can see is that they can control the threat of Nod, and only just. Sad to say, when the crunch comes, the responsibility of defending Ordered Space would fall solely on SOPCC, the Saint Guard and whatever remnant of the old GDI that steps up.

Right, that's about all ...

Not.

That's only half of the entire bluecheesium, I'll post the rest when I've gotten over this sore at my rear. Been sitting too long in front of the computer.

Enjoy!

P/S: Before that, I'll have to offer prayers and apologies to the God and the OC thread in general for purposefully sending a number of CC members from Escutcheon, Teana, and Signum to the guillotine. May their souls rest in peace.

Once again, another amazing episode of great Justice! All that magic really tore the arena to shreds.

And while it was gratuitiously over the top, given the nature of things they were up against, I expected no less.

This further reinforces the theory that TSAB is frankly, not much of a administrator of Time Space as a whole. Not enough power density to able to exert control.

To everyone who read, thanks alot, couldn't be doing this without you guys and gals. I read everyone's comments even though i might not have responded to them, i also tried to make it a bit more clear to avoid needless confusion. But if i didn't succeed in that, then i suppose that confusion is just a part of my personality.

links to chapters 1 and 2.

About formatting: Davrams lines are always preluded by an empty line, and i usually don't have another empty line afterwards. But when i have two people talking and neither TALKS LIKE THIS, i use empty lines to indicate that the person who's talking has changed.

anyway, around 5500 words like the last chapter as well, here it is:

Oh for Sankt's sake do calm down; we're tearing the thread apart with our hotblood already.

Also, I've said that to everyone and I'll say it again: There is no such thing as respect through veterancy in OC, only those who earned it. Frankly, pushing rank around is one thing I hate the most, and would definitely make the thread even more closed than it already is...

I admit many parties, including myself, had a part to play in this mess, and so once and for all, can we stop attacking each other? And sometimes, excessive talking just KILLS inspiration.

So everyone please, STOP TALKING, START WRITING!!!

On the SAFA thing, it's pretty much hinted that Nanoha is perhaps the most powerful or at the very least, among the highest tiers in her unit. That doesn't demean the strength of other SAFA instructors though, since they're supposedly the elite air mages among the elite air mages who are already an elite of their own. Presumably, they're all probably AAA rankers and above. Nanoha did say Vita would fit in quite nicely among the instructors after all. There's probably minimal gap.

All the more reason I'd say the threat levels in Nanohaverse is still :eyeroll: especially when the incidents can be solved by 10 to 20% of the elites alone.
More like the threat levels are non-existent. Heck the Nobles I created will steamroller TSAB like Davram did Kha's overzealous ancestors.

Well, I don't recall promising anyone that I'd keep from pwning Reiji. :P And calling him a Romeo November Charlie wouldn't even make sense because he's a white boy.

The truth of your statements are debatable, as they equally fall into delusions of grandeur, hypocrisy, silliness, and generally making you out to look like a fool.

Baka Reiji, you make this so easy.

Seeing the flamewars that show up, we can never have peace through fanfiction. Now, peace through power, on the other hand...

Just be mindful of the pros and cons of melee vs ranged. Still, as Ark and TK must be kicking themselves now, since Barrier Jackets work better against spells than melee attacks, that means that melee can be viable.

My melee tends to take place in buildings and shit. Notice in Five Minutes that Franz went with beamfire first, closed the gap, then went melee.

You were away? Really? No wonder it was so nice and calm! :P

Franz: "Not so much that I don't like him... rather it's the realisation that Hayate has her own life to lead and I'm her friend but don't have any right to interfere in her life.
Naomi: "Emili-neechan wouldn't stop kicking him until he swore that he would follow what he said just now."
Glen: "And you were trying to freeze his balls off."
Naomi: "It's not like he uses them."

No, you're chopped cow. :P (I probably should clarify: you write romance that I don't care about.)

I hate to be the one saying this, and like this, but Tempest, Reiji here has more anger management, ego, self insertion and hypocrisy issues than anyone else on this thread. I recall you attacking Aaron for no good reason other than your ego.

Also, my mentioning of Tempest is due to him being a 40k fan. Notice how in that context I mentiond Kha, TK and Kagerou and the 40k fans who turned Haruhi into the God-Empress (and Myssa Rei uses Inquisition schools of thought - Almathian, etx etc - to describe Haruhists). It was an eyeroll at 40k.

So can the hypocrisy Reiji - it isn't as if you haven't regularly thrown shitfits and tantrums on OC.
/facepalm

I'm a little late, but this post is as good as me siccing Terminator 00 on both you and Reiji:

Is this a challenge? Is this an indication that in case I can't do it you can brew trouble? Are you scoffing at me?

Please, Reiji, this feels like sabotage already. I made a warning because I have the firm belief that I have enough qualification to bring about the matter. Saying something that serves to compromise the status of such statement can indirectly cause the lack of impact for the warning. And we don't want that now, do we?

I am confident that I have sufficient reasons and evidence to ratify my position as someone who can notify the moderators for the closure of this thread if ever. As such, I am WARNING you not to cause trouble.

Do not take ME lightly THIS time, Reiji. This is no longer a joking matter. I may not have the direct power of moderators. But I CAN talk them into it. I AM serious about this. And I will NOT let YOU ruin this peaceful status quo right now. NOR anyone else!

And to answer your question. YES, I CAN.

You can figure it out. I believe in you.

Yes.

First you challenge my statement and then now you try to get chummy with me?

Reiji, I do not want your or anybody else's support here. This is my own unilateral action, in case you didn't read thru my post thoroughly.

And what you're doing is an attack too. So stop, please. I already stopped Reiji from attacking you in the first place in IRC. (made him delete some unsavory comments towards you before you read them) Please don't ruin my hard work in trying to maintain some peace and quiet at least for now! ><

Can I throw a shitfit/tantrum, then?

Considering how you two like each other soooooo much...

Reiji, Goose, can you two good boys take this large vendetta of HATE OUTSIDE THE OC THREAD BEFORE YOU TAKE EVERYTHING TO HELL AGAIN?!?!?

No buts.

I'm accusing you two of making trouble? Yes, I am. Because you two are.

You're correct? I don't care. Doesn't matter. You like to be at each other's throats, and we don't want that.

You two won't fight? YES, YOU WILL if I don't stop you two.

It's not bad? It IS bad for the OCT health.

I don't have the right? I think I do.

There's a really cute and useful system called PM's here in Animesuki Forums. That should work well enough as a playpen for the two of you.

Taking place 5 years after StrikerS, and not part of any canon, the TSAB passes a law that allows it to censor anything it so wishes. The Infinity Library on the other hand, refuses to submit to the TSAB authority, and led by Yuuno, begin working to stop the TSAB's Media Cleansing Force by grabbing books and data that the TSAB wants before the MCF can get to them.

This war for the most part played out on Mid itself, as the Infinity Library forms the Library Task Force, librarians based in libraries throughout Mid, which act as firebases in the censorship war.

Sides are drawn in this battle; the Saint Chuch is almost totally on the side of the TSAB and the MCF, particularly Anita's Inquisition, which forms a sizable element of the MCFs ORBAT; the Navy is for the most part ignoring this whole censorship squabble, and the Aces are being good soldiers and following the TSAB.

This is where the lines of the OCs are drawn.

Now at this point this is just brainstorming, okays?

- Kay joins the ILTF as an independant observer, chronicaling their exploits
- The Belkas quietly support the ILTF with cash and stuff, covertly, since all three of them are filthy rich and it makes more sense for them to be on the outside supporting the libraries - I may or may not imply that the Belkas are bankrolling the libraries
- Since the Libraries don't have that many mages short of the mages who defected to them, they use guns. Because of that, Gil has ended up being a firearms instructor, using guns from earth.

- Alternatively, the Erusians, looking to give the TSAB a black eye for general principles - and because they don't like whily-nily censorship of children's books - covertly supply the ILTF with body armor, weapons and ammo.

- the OFM: I'm thinking of having them on the MCF side, training MCF troops in how to counter people with guns. They are doing it half-assedly, however, since they're not too happy with the whole idea of the MCF.

Anybody else wanna suggest/expand? This is what I get from a 4-ep marathon of Toshokan Sensou (Library Wars).
No objections here since we totally agree (in concept ), but I will not stop snickering at the person who once dissed the Wild Ferret of the TSAB and the Astartes Libranicus now proposing crack about militant librarians. :3

I get it now. Just need to scale the TSAB back to the Belka bronze age. Fixed, and now I've got even MORE room to run villains amok.

Though I got to stop bitch-slapping US Foreign Policy using the TSAB as an effigy.

After I remade Rinya's ID Cardm I had the idea to make some improvements to Elric.

I replaced the two pictures of his Device in Range Mode and Sealed Mode with a single picture, like I did with Rinya's Device.

Spoiler for Carnage:

I also added two new pictures to help visualize some details of my character.

Spoiler for Other:

And I must say, this picture I found in the Image Thread pretty much fits my Dark Future Setting :3

You have to recall that the Cradle's launch only took several minutes, and the Cradle was a weapon of unknown capabillities. Scrambling what you have and throwing it at an unknown enemy looks like suicide waiting to happen even from my non-millitairy point of view.

Hmm, I think the key here lies more with the 'villains and aliens I've created' part rather then the TSAB's competence. What we've seen in the series were hardly average cases, maybe the first half of the first season would be 'average' but just like how very few mages in the TSAB get beyond B-rank, very few villains would too.

Besides, elite enemies are made to be taken down by elite heroes, not nameless grunts. :3

At the end, the B-ranks and below had risen to AA and A rank. That's pretty hefty for a unit that's not even an 'elite' unit by name.

The problem is that everything we throw at them is aimed to be solved by our heroes, which means our threats are above average. That's hardly the TSAB's fault.

To be honest... I'm quit proud of it, so it would piss me off to see a slighty modified copy of my design.

But as long it dosn't look too much like Carnage you're pretty much free to go.

Well... Carnage is based on a Predator's Wrist Blades/Forearm Computer mixed with Midchilda Device typical characteristics.

I'm sure you can come up with your own Equip Device easily.

I'm sure I could (what's an Equip Device? Did I miss that somewhere?), but as it so happens, Carnage or something like it would work very nicely as Vivio's weapon (on second thought, not Gurren. G's supposed to be somewhat clunky and drill-oriented), complete with the claws from the gloves she wore on the Cradle.

Also I'm not much of an artist either in or out of photoshop, so it'd be really difficult for me to whip up this kind of reference image on my own... unless you know of a repository of high-tech/fantasy weapon images somewhere on the net....

Actually, Vivio's weapon is less of a claw, its more of a duster knuckle. Perfect for getting close and punching (which is why I gave a device like that to Syn :3)

It's the form of the Device.

On the official ID Cards I saw that Mach Calibur and Blitz Calibur are descriped as "Intelligent / Equip", and Kerykeion as "Boost / Equip". While Raising Heart and Bardiche for example are both "Intelligent / Rod".
So I figured that Equip means that the device is worn like a glove or shoe.

I once saw a picture of Sankt Kaiser Vivio with some kind of Claw Device that gave her these pretty scary big clawlike fingers. So I pretty much know what you mean.
I also once had the Idea to give Vivio Carnage in the future... but I dropped that again.

Eh. I've had all kinds of ideas for Vivio's device. I'm still hashing out what I want to do with the story I'm working on (though I think my latest idea is a pretty solid one), but I've got most of the devices for my characters set in stone.

Rico gets Gurren, which is basically the forearm unit of Gurren Lagann. A standard dual gauntlet-style device like RK coupled with a pair of boots, its' first boosted form consists of drill units that come out the sides of each gauntlet to enhance penetration on Rico's punches, and Flier Fin-style wings on the boots to provide a speed boost. The Full Drive form causes the armor of the boots and gauntlets to extend up Rico's legs and arms, and the units sprout a bunch of Strada-style rocket boosters to enhance Rico's speed even further and render him flight-capable. His control over the rockets coupled with a bunch of tricks, spells, and special maneuvers he invented make him a match for most dedicated air combat mages in this form.

The other devices are somewhat less developed but I still have general ideas of what I want from the other characters... except Vivio. I'm really not sure what to do with her. I don't want to take the obvious route and give her an RH knockoff, so my initial thought was a double-ended halberd/RH hybrid. Then I got to thinking about hand-to-hand combat and thought of those gloves, and from there I somehow jumped to giving her a pair of Riot Zamber storage devices. Gah, need guidance much.

That's the whole point for them being scattered to the winds. Also Kha, seriously, which has more firepower: a single Obelisk supporting laser turrets, or a fucking wall of Obelisks?

Kha, you do realise, don't you, that the Gespenst is at best a C to B-rank unit? The only reason it's viable is because 1) Kai is fucking BADASS and 2) the Gespenst variants are A/AA-rank equivalent. Gespensts are puny cannon fodder. Until Kai gets his hand on one, that is, but then Kai is like the God of Gespensts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...which is why the TSAB is actually much more hopeless than we've made them to be. They can take on NOTHING outside their comfort zones. Because given the amount of spellshaping needed to battle the likes of Necrons, Spawn, Chaos Belka, heck even Thrall and his Space Orcs, these guys either need more gear, or need more levels.
So far all I can see is that they can control the threat of Nod, and only just. Sad to say, when the crunch comes, the responsibility of defending Ordered Space would fall solely on SOPCC, the Saint Guard and whatever remnant of the old GDI that steps up.
Or you could just you know NOT make wanktastic villains with no basis in canon and then whine that they’re too strong for the TSAB to fight... Really IMO this is stupid instead of making these wanked out villains and then having to derail canon EVEN MORE by inventing shit to try and stop them why not I don’t know make villains the TSAB can reasonably fight to start with. You keep ranting about how the universe is full of big bad scary stuff, but the fact is canon shows none of this which forces us to conclude that you know maybe the Nanoha verse just isn’t that dangerous and the TSAB army is adequate for what it has to deal with most of the time. Canada doesn’t need a fleets of nuclear carriers, missiles, and bombers for instance and perhaps, just PERHAPS the TSAB knows more about the space it lives in then we do and doesn’t need massive numbers of heavy weapons either. An insane idea I know, and one I’m sure you’ll merrily ignore to keep whining about how weak the TSAB is compared to your latest superpowered evil doer.
At some point it just gets to be that the issue isn’t with the TSAB or Nanoha it’s with all of you ramming stuff from other universes which is WAY overpowered into the setting and then realizing “huh you know I don’t think the good guys could really stop this…” This is YOUR fault and frankly not canons. I built the villains in my fic around what we see in Nanoha dangerous, but in universe and of a level that the TSAB and the good guys can reasonably fight. You’re approach meanwhile seems to be “take random super powered evil doers from another universe, apply only most vague Nanoha trappings, proceed to whine that resulting force is WAY too powerful for the TSAB to fight.” Well NO SHIT if I took say the Daedalus from Stargate and rammed in into Marcoss it would be hideously overpowered and basiclly unstoppable just rampaging over everything. Which is hardly Macross’s fault! It’s also coincidently a damn good reason why you shouldn’t do it…
Interesting drabble, though where did all the gunmen get their guns from?
What part of “machine gun shaped device” was unclear? I don’t mind questions, but I’d prefer they not be questions with bleedingly obvious answers right in the text.
Spoiler for Long Crack is Long:
Yes now Nanoha stuffs.... ergh coming later. <.<
Meh I prefer the Colonization era myself more hooks and areas for OC adventuring, I acutally have OCs in that era already and OC ships (and thousands and thousands of words of fluff)! I think the 35th Galaxy Deep Patrol Fleet and the 7th Special Operations Group of VF-17s, 22s, 19s, 11s, and VAB-2s might be slightly out of place in 2009 though…
That said this gives me and idea... Macross OC thread?! Spread teh madness for the lulz!
I don't quite like the idea of sit-back-and-watch-them-overrun-you-before-intervening either. Knowing bureaucracy, chances are when the full scramble goes out, there'd be a chance that even the elites would be overwhelmed given their small numbers and the loss of the spam units. I learnt that the hard way in 40K, after playing my Commander agressively while the rest of the army lagged behind. Hotblooded yes, but sometimes Shas'O Ka died without doing significant damage.
Besides, elite enemies are made to be taken down by elite heroes, not nameless grunts. :3
Elite heroes can't be everywhere at once. I curbed the Necron threat by severely limiting their numbers and forcing them via lore into a corner. Even then, they still put up an amazing fight.
Once the Wanderer is prepared however...
At the end, the B-ranks and below had risen to AA and A rank. That's pretty hefty for a unit that's not even an 'elite' unit by name.
I'm not quite sure what you mean here, but from my understanding of canon, Riot 6 had to take limiters because of that overwhelming firepower in a non-elite unit. At least in a unit with dubious political alignment, and so were not likely to be granted the same level of trust as one of the higher-up's pet elites.
My inference from that is:
1. Average units with proper power distribution needs no limiter.
2. It is possible for said pet elites to bypass the Accumulation of Power restriction. Given the nature of their work, what they routinely come up against, and their very strong allies high up in the administration, I believe that is so.
The number of elite mages in the general population then become a limiting factor in the proliferation of such units though...
The fact that he's borne by a cyborg mother. And the latest model of his Knight Armor is bonded to his bones.
(I doubt you'd get this ref, but it started with the first model, mentioned in the Codex, coming in a suitcase... :3)
If TSAB had more tanks, armor and support craft, and throw in a Comissar or two, maybe they'd have the firepower to backup all that Leadership 10 while waiting for the enemy to fail a test.
Unfortunately, with the revisions to the other races other than Spawn and Necron, Leadership is less of a problem to them, which means the TSAB isn't at much more of an advantage. And that's assuming their crappy strategy is just because of the defenders being messed around by the Brains, and only after the wannabe Aeolias got the bump were they able to scrape together something. If not, it shows that the TSAB doesn't even have Leadership 10... How much more gimped can they get in our abnormal multiverse?
Think WoW Orcs. The ones with brains, familiar physiology, and speak of the Lok'Thar. But now in space. I prefer these Orcs to the Space Orks. And Thrall is awesome. FOR THE HORDE! :3
Scenes like grunts with an inspiring commander roaring his entire unit into a hotblooded charge, resulting in the company outspamming the opposition. Said CO is just shy of Nanoha's level, but he then makes it up with lots of GAR. A homage to the God of Gespenst.
All falls to pieces.
Kha summoned Alistina instead of Vivio I guess?
But I was talking about changing the KhaxNanoha alternate ending for Fate that I created for Cente Gravia that has no equivalent in FSN. Have Keroko instead, or Kha winning both sisters. :3
I think both are frost-spec'd actually, just that while Rein is a true Mage, the Belka Discipline tree for Confessors included choices for magical specialization like warriors do.
0_0 Holy damn. For me, its when I got a spot for Gruul's it didn't drop when it dropped for other raids.
Depends on the laser turret density.
Though I must admit, even with their combined firepower, that rarely penetrates the high Invulnerable Saves of elite villains, and I'm not even talking about those who Feel No Pain on top of that...
And I'm weighing the political risk of the unit going on a rampage VS the unit being unable to cope with the power level of the threat. Not like the US is worried of her Marines turning on her, despite Bush's stupidity, doesn't it?
That's only because I haven't bothered to give that Khrack first pass metabolism into something more reasonable, which you have definitely done.
@TK: Yes I'm complaining because I thought of them to be better and now I got to change things. But it's minimal; just shrunk TSAB area of control to match its power.
