People are probably a bit tired of me making that claim, aren't they?
Ah! That would make sense :O
How did I miss that one? XD

The little voices in my head want to go off on one talking about the connotations of Kyon being likened to Doctor Who (who was an alien) - but I'll leave it because I'm sure it's not true :C

I've been staying out of this discussion, but honestly, I say we just make it Jane Smith for now and if we really need to... change it.

This is a fluid project, guys, nothing is written in stone here.

The Doctor also has some slight psychic power. The TARDIS translation effect doesn't work without a link to him, and there's his slightly psychic paper, although I don't think that one is directly linked to him. Considering that the Doctor has also been known to wind up in different universes on occasion as well...

If that means Kyon is all 4 at once, then...

However, I hate that interpretation; I don't think Doctor Who is a common enough pop-culture reference in Japan.

I may of course be horribly horribly wrong, but I think it was just the generic name thing that Kyon was goin' for.

I dunno, this is Kyon we're talking about. He knows waaaaaay more than the average Japanese high schooler should.

But I hold that he doesn't watch Doctor Who religiously.

He wouldn't have to watch it religiously to know that The Doctor uses that name; I've never seen Doctor Who and I know that.

Yes, but we browse Trope websites.

Genre-savvy as Kyon is, I don't think he browses Trope websites.

I'm not sure whether Doctor Who is a major thing in Japan, but I don't even know if he would ever have heard of it.

I bet Haruhi does. (Haruki as well, perhaps?) After all, there's that computer with Internet access sitting right there on that desk, and, as has been shown in the novels (and the anime, I think?), Haruhi does get bored sometimes.

My vote would be for Sarah Jane Smith.

Anyway, a new genderbender story popped up on fanfiction.net... that's not stealing from anyone, but turns the genderbending meme on its ear!

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4307507/1/Switcharoo

still needs work imho...

How about we go out of the ordinary of the whole "____ Smith" name and go with Sarah Marshall as her fake name??

That was genderbending doing its mind tricks again.

I love it when I can respond with things like this or this.

Also, I tend to treat Kyon's knowledge as though he has a couple levels in Bard, if anyone gets what I mean by that.

Actually, she can't be, because Haruhi IS the TV Tropes Wiki.

I agree with Kenobi, Sarah Jane Smith gets my vote simply because of the Dr. Who reference.
