Not really, Kino No Tabi is much more straightforward plotwise and psychedelic than Kaiba, IMO.

I can't really think of anything but Ghost Hound and Paranoia Agent but they are not that similar to Kaiba...

the movies Mind Game and Tekkonkinkreet are from the same director as Kaiba. Try those.

eh.

I'll second Digital Boy's suggestions. Masaaki Yuuki's other works will probably appeal to you, too.

Which part of Kaiba did you like? The Dystopia? The Tragedy?

That being said, I strongly second Mind Game, very good modern fantasy, strage romance, about a young man that is brutal killed by Yakuza while trying to save the girl he likes, only to trick God into letting him return to the point before he dies, letting him defeat the Yakuza, grab the girl, and then steals their car. Then he drives off a bridge into the mouth of a whale. Then it gets wierd.

What's that anime where a family moves and encounters a hidden theme park beyond a tunnel and the parents get distracted by free food, eventually turning into pig-men, and the girl gets captured and is made to work and eventually fights off the lady in charge.

That's the only heavy fantasy anime that was good that I can think of.

Spirited Away by studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. A movie that in 2002 got the Oscar for best animated film

psst: Tekkonkinkreet was directed by Michael Arias, Mind Game and Kaiba were by Masaaki Yuasa.

If you enjoy the um... off-beat nature of Kaiba and, of course, that director's touch - and don't mind going for something more depressing in tone, I heartily recommend Cat Soup (Nekojiru-sou, it's an OVA - IMO I'd say don't bother with the TV series)
Technically the director is someone else but if you watch it it's largely Yuasa.

The fantastic thing about Kaiba is that while the stories seem familiar, it's not that easy to think of a show that is that much like it.
