Yep that's true. Like in School Rumble. KJ likes Akira than the rest of the girls he's created in SR. But he ended it with Tenma the main character with the one she likes Karasuma.

imo one of the better aspects of the anime is to see the characters you like getting animated. it provides more material for pics and sigs/avies. i mostly liked the anime, well atleast the parts where they stuck true to the manga material. though butterfingers got really really annoying.
