i think i know what it is.

do you feel fatigue (tired) and sometimes get diarrhoea.

it took my mum 4 years to find out what she had, so you might have the same thing. The doctors were all saying that she had nothing wrong and they couldn't find anything, state of mind and all that crap. Well they were wrong cause she did have a problem, and it took them 4 years to identify it. (for some reason a lot of doctors seem to be mindless when it comes to this disease, but its nothing serious if you eat the right foods, and if you identify it early)

my mum said there is a blood test for it now and you can go for doctors and request a test for it, just tell them name of it and they will test it.

sorry i forgot to post name of disease.

its called Coeliac disease...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coeliac_disease

as long as you eat things that don't contain gluten you should be okay, let me know how it works out. If you want more details or help I can recommend some food. But before you eat something check back of packet and make sure it doesn't contain gluten. If you are able to eat grain, check and see if the specific grain you are eating contains gluten... if it does maybe its not this disease... if it doesn't maybe it is.

Let me know if this helps.

It would be a good idea that you go see an internist for this, and not wait further. A GP might not have experienced such a case recently or at all.

There can be many things that could give these symptoms, and an expert opinion is better, IMHO. If you are seeing blood in your stools, BTW, go see a doctor now.

I suffered through a few weeks of stomach pains both before and after eating recently, so I have some understanding of what you might be going through right now.

Stomach pains? That's nothing serious, especially that you can still eat grains and apples. However, it is certainly strange that you can only eat grains and applies, yet you cannot eat anything else. How long has this stomach pain problem been?

I don't think there is anything wrong either, because grains and apples aren't even the same category of food, yet you claim that you can eat it and feel well afterwards.

as long as the grains don't contain gluten they are okay to eat.

unfortunately a lot of foods out there (most) contain gluten, its a gluten disease, basically any food that contains gluten is poison to their body. its possible the grain doesn't have any gluten in it... apples don't.

so if he/she checks this and there is no gluten in it then there is a chance that it is this problem.

There isn't enough information given by Vikitehwaffu to really help, IMHO. Diet is important, but knowing his stress level, number of hours and how well he sleeps, the location and level of pain, and so on are good as well.

For my symptoms, which were bad enough that I couldn't move , I visited 2 doctors (GP), and both asked about everything before the second one recommended my visiting a specialist. Be honest and not be embarrassed when asked for your symptoms. Your doctor won't be able to give you a good diagnosis otherwise.

Xvoki: Nice avatar!

Well, I have to go to the bathroom a lot/diarrhea if eating fried foods/high levels of sugar, and that is very uncomfortable and time consuming. I sleep pretty well and I am not really angry/worried about anything, so my stress is fine.

I don't have any blood in my stool, and I don't have Irritable Bowel Syndrome either, since I was checked for that. The gluten thing sounds plausible, but I don't know if that is it. My mother has something similar to what I have, for over 10 years but to a severally worse degree . They don't know what's is wrong with her either so going to her doctor won't do much.

Well, I don't think I would be too worried about the inability to eat fried or sugary food, since they're atrocious for you, but was I correct in reading you can only eat grains and apples? I don't think you would be alive at this point were that the case, lol.

Well lately I have been trying ensure and it seems like I can digest it, so I get my vitamins through that and pills. Trying a little meat here and there, but I don't want to feel the pain so I have been wary.

But yeah, it really sucks. I liked eating fruits, juice and yogurt beforehand.

I still think writing a list down and keeping a record of all the foods that give you stomach pains, and those that donít, is a good idea. One day it could help reveal something previously overlooked, such as a connection between the foods that cause the stomach upsets.

Your condition sounds very complex though. Have you tried using a dedicated medical forum? Maybe you can find a more accurate answer if you post your symptoms on one of those.

Hereís some more reading, if your up for it.

Gluten intolerance should not cause a problem if you're eating sugary foods, but that depends on exactly what kind of food you are eating. The Heidelberg stomach Ph test, endoscopy and colonoscopy are also possible to give a more thorough check, but ask your doctor first to see if he thinks they are appropriate for your symptoms.

There can be any number of reasons why you're having stomach pains like some kind of allergy, a severe case of heartburn, gastritis, and so on. You don't want to take the wrong medicine (doctor- or self-given) and mistreat yourself.

Xvoki's suggestion of writing down the foods and the effects they have on your is a very good one also, and can help to minimize the pain you're having. The doctor might be able to use it to help in the diagnosis also.

no thats not true, only certain types of grains do. my mum has Coeliac disease as i said, and again as i said it only affects them if it contains gluten, gluten is the only thing that affects people with Coeliac disease.

vik check and see if food contains gluten before you eat it, if it doesnt contain gluten try it... if it doesn't affect you then thats good.

did u check to see if the grains u ate contained gluten... check and see it will say one of three things

suitable for coeliacs or gluten free or possibly not be listed (but sometimes contain it)

id google gluten free food or just ask in tesco and see what they say.

it doesn't matter what type of food you eat, sweets, chocolate, meat, anything, as long as it contains gluten then its bad.

And where did I say gluten doesn't effect people with Coeliac? Gluten is most often found in grains… the very foods Vikitehwaffu claims to be able to eat! I’m happy your mother has been able to find gluten-free products, but for those who aren’t weary of avoiding gluten, it’s generally not something most people take notice of. Hence the comment I made.

My sources (just to show I’m not making this stuff up).

sorry I didnt mean to make what I said sound bad, I just ment it in a way that not all grains contain gluten.

I believe what you said carried weight and just felt that it was worth mentioning that not all of the grains contain gluten, sorry if i came across blunt or bad Xvoki. I appreciate your opinion and appreciated your help when I had the medical problem.

Doh! *slaps head* And now youíve gone and made me feel bad, Wavie.

No apology is necessary. I have enormous sympathy for sufferers of Coeliac, and you obviously know more about it than I.

lol nah reading back i was a bit blunt =), I would definitely type a similar reply that you did so don't worry about it

plus you might know more than me on it, I only know what my mother tells me. my knowledge on coeliac disease extends from dont eat gluten to how it makes you feel if you do =)

A few years ago, I sometimes (around 4 or 5 times per year) had sharp pains in my chest cavity. I'm not sure what the cause was, but it seemed to only hurt during deep inspiration (breathing in). It didn't last long but it felt almost like a small knife pierced my lungs. Over the years, that sharp pain has become less and less frequent. That was at 17 years old. Has anyone else experienced similar problems at that age?

Background info: I was quite late going into puberty, so once I did, my body started growing very quickly.

Sharp chest pains should never be ignored. At the very least, consult your family doctor to make sure that it's not an impending heart attack. Make sure to check your blood pressure and cholestrol level.
