MKVextractGUI Help Thread

so here are the problems

a friend has decided to help us with our fansub projects, but he has been using subtitle workshop, he made an MKV with the file and coded it in ssa

so i have been trying to pull the subtitles from this file to add them to our aegis file but its not going well

I downloaded mkvextract (which is no longer available on the original website)
but I get this error

Spoiler:

next when i try to extract the files i get this

Spoiler:

I tried removing all the spaces and wierd characters from the file name as suggested but its still not working right

im not sure if this matters, but the video is a VFR/WMV3 file, MP3 audio, SSA file

Put mkvextractgui in the same folder as the mkvtoolnix installation.

Also the latest aegisub prerelease builds allow opening of softsubbed scripts from mkv as well. So you could just open it and then export through aegisub 2.0 as well.

EDIT: May also want to switch to the newer gui for mkvextract.

/me tested it slightly and seems to work the same and probably easier to use...

You can try to go to Start -> Run and run this command:
Code:
regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
This will disable all kinds of preview for video files in Explorer, including video file thumbnails and extra property pages. If you want to enable it again, run:
Code:
regsvr32 shmedia.dll

MKVExtractGUI Help?

Hey all,

When I try extracting video, I get "Error: Unrecognized command line option ''. Maybe you put a mode specific option before the input file name?" Does anyone know why this happens?

the mkvextract.exe is too old/new for the GUI frontend you have.

MKVE Wizard should work with the latest mkvtoolnix builds.

Thanks for the help both of you. I got the newest version of MKVtoolnix and it worked plus MKVE Wizard to play around with.
