Special Obama Article

A facinating find during my daily drudging through of the nation's many newspapers

Boston Globe provided an archived article of Obama in 1991, highlighting his becoming first black president of the Harvard Law Review

The Repubs have to do something different or they will continue have as much black support as they do (namely zilch) same with hispanics (which is modest and fluctuating at best IMHO).
At the moment, they appear to be racing for the endpoint of the right wing and in the process completely alienating all the colors they're going to need to survive at as a viable party at all in about 5 years... (black, brown, yellow, deeply tanned, etc)

In it'd-be-funny-if-it-wasn't-true news, parts of my family in Texas are joining a movement to have Texas secede from the Union. Secession has been a running gag in Texas since Day One (along with all our other 'large humor') since the right of secession was written into the agreement when Texas the Country (1836) became Texas the State in 1845 .... however, some of my cousins and relatives are joining a serious organization that will try to orchestrate a secession from the USA. Its rather similar to the Alaskan Secessionist group that Palin and her family associated with prior to her running for VP.

Wheee..... my aunt and uncle want to move up to the Northwest with us because the rest of my family seems to be going totally nuts.

Oh.. anyone who liked the Library Wars anime series (Toshokan Sensou) entertaining, (eh, TinyRedLeaf?), may find this link amusing: The Texas Archive War.

noooooo!

Don't let the union dissolve! It will only bolster Prof. Panarin's predictions.

We've had an active separatist movement in Canada for years now. By Supreme Court decree, if they ever get a "substantial majority" of support for separation, then the federal government must "negotiate" a separation settlement.

Basically, this means that if the separatists ever win a referendum (and they've come close), they'll argue with the feds over specifics for a while and probably give up. Because that's the Canadian way when it comes to constitutional issues regarding federal/provincial powers: we argue about it for a while, then we decide it's too much of a pain in the ass to figure out.

But seriously, Texas? I can see the appeal of that proposal that occasionally goes around to form a country out of British Columbia, Washington State, and Oregon, but that's the Pacific Northwest and Texas is, well, Texas.

I'm watching the huge crowds thronging the National Mall on CNN right now (and cursing my luck for not being there) and, boy, am I feeling envious.

What a grand, historic moment!

Best wishes for the new President. May he fulfil as much as he has set out to do.

Well the thing about good presidents is that they have a tendency to be assassinated.

Like Lincoln and JFK. Who knows if Obama will be another target for Washington snipers in the years to come?

The age of Ceasarism will begin in about 2 hours. When the hopes of an entire social class is vested upon one man, you will LONG for the republican party.

Hee hee, love black american accents xD

EDIT:
Senator Dianne Feinstein has a kick ass speech writer...
Wow, national prayer and all, can't say I've ever watched/paid attention to previous ceremonies though.
I'd give it an 'amen' to the words though
