Skies of Arcadia - Very atmospheric, ship battle theme fits it perfectly, boss theme that changes based on how well you're doing.

Tales of Legendia - Some very unique tracks, especially the one that plays in the very first area, have never heard anything like it in any other game in the series.

Star Ocean 3 - Great techno tracks, and of course Mission to Deep Space.

Xenosaga 3 - Some of the most epic boss battle themes ever.

Lost Odyssey - Just great all around, I like the map theme quite a bit.

Final Fantasy VI - I still think this is my favorite boss battle theme to this day, the second overworld theme is great as well.

Honorable mentions - Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana

A lot of games I play have really awesome music, but for the time being, the ones that come to mind are Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4 (My fifth favorite RPG) and Sigma Harmonics.

The Sonic the Hedgehog series wins this category for myself, hands down, no contest. Ever since the games began to decline in quality, one thing has always remained divine, and that's the soundtrack.

Heck even Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), which is considered to be the biggest disaster of a game in the series' lifetime, actually has an incredible and epic soundtrack.

What's also nice is the diversity. There's rock, rap, electronica, jazz and even classical implemented in the series' BGM. The variety of vocal themes is also good for those who don't like listening to just instruments all the time too.

Spoiler for Sample the epicness no?:

Ah yes, speaking of Sonic, I'm very fond of the JPN/EU soundtrack for Sonic CD, which has some of the catchiest video game music I've ever heard. I also like how each level has a distinct melody, but the melody is remixed a bit for the past, and the good/bad future sections of each level.

Soul Calibur soundtracks are quite good, same with Phantasy Star Universe Episode III, as someone said sonic.

I also likethe Zelda soundtracks along with most RPGs.

I think Fallout 3 and Mass Effect could have done with a good soundtrack because trudging across the Wasteland or the Citadel gets really boring without some good music to listen to.

IMO Sonic hasn't had good music since the Genesis era. It's depressing as hell how far the franchise has fallen even in that category. As hilarious as Crush 40 is it's still a far cry from the likes of what Dreams Come True came up with for the original game and ditto for the Michael Jackson ripoff soundtrack that was Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Here's an example of what it used to sound like when I was growing up:

Chiptunes forever baby!

I actually really enjoyed the score for Sonic Adventure 2. That had the last good score in the franchise for me.

Well I love the Genesis-era tunes as well. I mean they're some of the most memorable video game songs (And also awesome remix material). I just like the modern day BGM too.

Anyway, aside from Sonic there are a few other soundtracks I found very awesome, like Mario Galaxy's incedible orchastration, Paper Mario 2's awesome synth themes, the Viewtiful Joe soundtrack, F-Zero GX's soundtrack and SSBB's staggering variety of well-known songs.

Always remember this song, it's epic in the way it conveys the whole feeling of the game - the sheer loss and eventual hope. Brings a tear to the eye when you complete the opening portions of the game with this tune in the background.

"There is nothing left, they are all gone, Kharak is burnning"

There are many other games that come to mind with awesome (addictive) sound tracks but that one is probably the one I'll remember the most.

Persona 4: The Long Way, Never More, Pursing my true self, and the 'Pursue the truth' battle music being pretty awesome.

Tales of the Abyss: Karma, Raising the Cross, and Meaning of Birth

Some best songs from those tracks, EVER. Meaning of Birth really tore me up, considering the music is SPECIFICALLY for that one battle only.

I've got to agree with this; the music for both Homeworld games (I didn't get to play the Cataclysm expansion, so no comment thereupon) works quite well.

And whatever its faults (such as its writing, which Richard Morgan took to task), Modern Warfare 2's tuneage isn't bad at all.

Lastly, while much hay has been made about the gameplay changes and story quality of C&C4, I can't really complain about the change in musical direction.
