The quality of animation is superb... they aren't saving any money, which is a good thing.
I don't care about the rest... there is Hughes and Armstrong, one of the few characters i like, i like the series, but i never felt much sympathy for Ed, Winry, Roy... but, with this quality, i can leave that fact aside and just enjoy this awesomeness... because awesome animation is awesome

^All the girl bloggers were swooning over Roy and Scar, but they just don't get it.
The episode was all about how awesome Major Armstrong is, both physically and surprisingly tactically. Dem chicks just don't get it!

Well, what I don't get is the "useless when wet" comment for Roy. True, his gloves' ability to generate sparks is negated. But trust me, with anything which can generate sparks, water just makes him a walking nuke.

Yeah, I said it before, and I'll say it again: I like everything about the series so far. It's just the usual wonkiness in the art that gets to me a bit. Heck, it made me wonder about the budget.
In this episode in particular, Ed is the most obvious. Granted, this isn't unique to this anime, nor to its first iteration, but I find it more noticeable in this one for some reason. As with the usual in anime, I'll be awaiting the major scenes for that significant bump in quality. And no, don't give me shit about unnecessarily comparing this series to the manga or the previous series, because you really don't need those versions to criticize Brotherhood as it is. This show isn't perfect, but it's a damn fine example of a series done well so far. With that out of the way, I would have to say that the highlights of this episode (besides the drama involved in the story so far) are the fight scenes. It's an episode packed with action in a way that is familiar to this anime, then and now. The pace also feels quicker in this episode, and it's pretty understandable why... not that this is bad or anything. Not bad at all. I guess something like this was needed after the Nina episode. The next episode (re)introduces a familiar face. I'm curious to know how the series will treat her character this time around. |

Are you serious!? I didn't catch that, if theres anymore of that than theres really is reason to complain. They better fix this in the DVD release otherwise they need to fire some people.

It still makes me wonder though, why Roy decides to face Scar in this situation. Surely he must've realized it was raining a bit.
I mean, if that's my weakness, I would definitely take note of this. It still is a funny scene however, and I guess entertainment is what matters the most for a TV show. |

![]() Actually I am secretly convinced that Arakawa made it rain because she wasn't sure who would win in a Scar VS Mustang fight at that point. Also yay for the Armstrong love. I am a female who thinks Armstrong is totally sexy. But then again I have immense love for every character in FMA. The good guys I just love & the bad guys I just love to hate.

@Twilight: I feel like a horrible anime fan. I do NOT see what your problem is with the pictures. As far as I can tell, they're just far off shots of Ed and Armstrong. If you're complaining about something regarding the art, far off shots aren't going to be as detailed as close ups for an obvious reason....

Er... you really didn't look closely enough, did you?
![]() In the first picture, Ed's auto-mail ends at his elbow, not his shoulder; and the sequence of pictures clearly shows Armstrong using his signature gauntlets, but in the pan-out shot his hands are bare. So, animation errors, hopefully to be corrected later on.
