Try 20 maps spread across 4 campaigns.

LOL, "4 maps".

And one thing they're promising in L4D2 is that the AI Director will now have control over the layouts of the maps (so random maps everytime you play a la Diablo).

Yes exactly, with some of those maps offering different approaches to reaching your destination.

Well I wouldn't say the AI director changing the map layout, its more like it arranges small portions of scenes to vary it enough.

That is the only way I really like to play it... old-style LAN party style with drinks, pizza, and lots of yelling. Cycled between games like TF2, CS, or other adrenaline nonsense.
