Makes me wonder if we're ever going to get to listen to "Curry After Rice"... is was the only song named in the anime that didn't get a performance I believe.

Never before have I jizzed my pants so furiously. Mio may have a unique naming sense, but she sure as hell can sing.

Weekly sales update time!

Mio character single; #2 for the week, sales of 32881
Yui Character single; #3 for the week, sales of 31384
Don't say 'Lazy'; #21 for the week, sales of 3919 (9 week total 142152)
Cagayake! Girls; #25 for the week, sales of 3648 (9 week total 128143)
Fuwafuwa Time; #27 for the week, sales of 3463 (5 week total 65716)

Character singles did slightly less in sales than the first week for Fuwa x2, which leads me to believe that each will do about 50~60k in sales when all is said and done. Yui's popularity still stuns me, as after hearing the singles I was fairly sure that Mio would wipe up the floor with her. As for the other songs, it looks like the character single did their job well in giving them a bit of a boost. All 3 saw an increase in sales over last week, however minor.

Now to look forward to the 'After School Tea Time' mini-album. Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but it's going to be a 2 disc set, with both studio and live mixes of 4 songs (Watashi no koi wa hotchkiss, Fudapen ~ballpen~, Curry nochi rice, Fuwa fuwa jikan -5 person version-). Hoping it sells as well as 'Lazy', though at 2205 yen, it's a bit pricier.

Actually, that's the Band Score CD that contains the 5-person versions of the OP and ED and the live mixes. The "After School Tea Time" mini album is the one that contains all of Mio's songs written in the show.

The disc I was talking about is not the band score CD. I'm referring to the mini-album that comes out on 7/22. Here's the .jp title from Amazon:
TVアニメ「けいおん!」劇中歌集アルバム
The songs listed on it (Watashi no koi wa hotchkiss, Fudapen ~ballpen~, Curry nochi rice, Fuwa fuwa jikan -5 person version-) are all songs that 'Mio' wrote, including 'Fuwafuwa Time'. It's a 2 disc set with studio and live versions of each song.

The band score + CD doesn't come out until 9/2, and the CD is more of a bonus than anything else. That CD has 5 person versions of the OP/ED and a 'One Point Lesson' for Cagayake! Girls. Strangely, it's that last track that has me wanting to hear it, but the 4500Y price tag has me hesitating

This site explains things a bit more clearly.

Any translations yet for the character songs? I'm waiting in particular for Mio's Hello Little Girl. It's kinda hard to search for that because it so happens the Beatles have a song with that same title. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Sales update time!

Mio Character Single - 15th for the week - sales of 7488 (40369 2 week total)
Yui Character Single - 16th for the week - sales of 7225 (38609 2 week total)
Don't Say 'Lazy' - 27th for the week - sales of 3642 (145794 10 week total)
Cagayake! Girld - 30th for the week - sales of 3242 (131385 10 week total)
Fuwafuwa Time - 33rd for the week - sales of 2966 (68682 6 week total)

Sorta disappointing sales for the character single 2nd week, but I stand by my prediction that both will sell 50k or more in the long run. Lazy and Cagayake seem to be digging in for the long run and will probably stay in the 30's or 40's until the After School Tea Time CD comes out. I think you'll see Fuwax2 fade this week and the character singles fade in 2 or 3 weeks time...

Yet another sales update!

Mio character single - 18th for the week - sales of 4003 (44372 3 week total)
Yui character single - 19th for the week - sales of 3985 (42594 3 week total)
Don't Say 'Lazy' - 26th for the week - sales of 3393 (149147 11 week total)
Cagayake! Girls - 30th for the week - sales of 3019 (134404 11 week total)
Fuwafuwa Time - 38th for the week - sales of 2401 (71083 7 week total)

Not much of a trend change from last week, all songs took moderate slides, though the OP/ED are showing amazing stamina. They've already outlasted the show, and I think they may have a shot at still being in the top 50 when the After School Tea Time single comes out, so they may get a little bounce from that as well.

Another random useless fact. Gross sales for all 5 singles to date is 550,620,000 yen, which at today's exchange rate (94yen = $1) equals $5,840,976.96

Think the songs paid for themselves? ^_^

Fixed.

Seriously I wonder if they will feature the song in the love letter which Mio wrote to Ritsu. The lyrics are cute.

All I can say is "holy crap". By the time you factor in the rest of the merchandise sales (like DVDs/Blu-Rays), this series will almost certainly be one of Pony Canyon's most successful anime projects to date. Whoever made the call to rush on the manga is definitely getting a raise.
