All episodes previous to this have subs up too, but they're the shit Bandai subs, since they own the license.

You'd think they'd use "time travelers" and not "future men" when every other English localization of the series uses "time travelers".

Well, ”未来人(miraijin)”　literally means "The person from the future".

Although I would agree that "time-traveler" sounds a lot better.

I don't think it'll be nearly as bad watching it like that. I want to try it that way on a first time view. there won't be that anticipation and anxiety that those that wait a whole week to see what happens. though I'm going to wait until this storyline is resolved to do that.

It would basically be like watching a movie that repeats a few times around. About a 90 minute movie at that with the four episodes.

Yes, I know what it MEANS. Translating a work does NOT always mean a literal translation, especially of terms like that... bah.

As I'm sure Kaisos has pointed out several times, translating "miraijin" as "future person" is roughly the same as translating "uchuujin" as "space person." It's technically accurate, but it sounds awkward and takes the place of a more commonly accepted translation.

I've been cringing for years.

I could also rant about the (inconsistent) replacement of "-san" with "Mister/Miss", which sounds terribly awkward in English.

I'd just drop the honorifics entirely rather then try to localize them, or if the intended audience is a pack of anime freaks anyway, keep them in, untranslated. (Like what the Persona games do.)

I think Little, Brown's translation of the novel is one of the best efforts I've ever seen, frankly.

I just tried to watch the third episode of Endless Eight, and wow, I couldn't bear it. I stopped shortly after I heard Haruhi give her "This is our first and only freshman summer so let's enjoy it" speech for the third time.

I think they're just reanimating things so cosplayers can get more outfit ideas.

Well at least they're changing things up every time at least visually, and much of the audio. rather then reusing the exact same footage like other shows that have done this plot

Why do they even have to make the plot exactly the same? If Yuki says there are variations, why don't leave out the goldfish scooping or something.

Only interesting changes were Yuki catching a different insect in every iteration and the clothes.

I guess it's okay now? Endless Eight was organized and produced as 6 episodes. Kadokawa's back sponsor got furious and after it was too late (production had finished), the producer was fired. There was a ton of confusion over whether they were going to skip the produced 4th and 5th episodes and air the 6th. By the way, the 6 ep organization was Kadokawa's instructions. The fired producer was a scape goat to appease the angry back sponsors. Kadokawa's ultimate goal was to blow smoke over the fans by having 12 episodes that would consist of E8, Sigh, and a new/re-organized Mikuru's adventure. And the Disappearance source material they had pulled from remains exactly that: source material. Currently Kadokawa does not feel like animating Disappearance [yet/still] This gives the feeling that the purpose of this new production is simply to pull money from the fans as they move the series from DVD to BD.
