Thats not very difficult to imagine actually, because those technologies are already available in the Macross universe. Many of which are even more advanced than their Gundam counterparts. What I was talking about was the possibilities of an alternative universe Macross.

GN tech is pretty exotic, but you're right about that most of the Gundam techs are outdated in Macross.

Well, GN particles is like the advanced fold capabilities Grace and co. tried to acquire from the Vajra.

Hell, the last episodes of Gundam 00 felt like a rehash of the last episode of Frontier, with all that talk about omnipotent presence... etc.

No, I understood perfectly. I still think you are wrong. New material, so a new plot. And there is tons of stuff they could do with that, from another Zentraedi fleet getting wooed by the two divas, to concluding the romance to going to Macross 7 or whatever... so much possibilities.

Or we would have been getting a Macross TV show every few years. The biggest factor that's keeping more Macross works from being made has probably been Kawamori's reluctance to make them.

Or it could be more like the Sousei no Aquarion OVAs which largely retells the TV show, but does so in a manner that feels very different from the parent work. It felt a lot like Do You Remember Love without completely reworked designs and artwork. At this point, it's way too early to speculate what the second movie is going to entail.

Exoticness has never been a selling point of techology; it's always been a matter of usefulness and possible applications. There is very little that GN technology offers to the humans of the New UN, and there really isn't that much place for their applications. Out-of-universe, Kawamori has historically gone out of his way to avoid association with Gundam works, and I doubt that this will change any time soon.

I beg to differ. The GN technology is an extrapolation and conflation of technologies in the UC Gundam shows. Gundam 00 should be thought of as its own beast.

Other than a connection to Macross 7 or any other older work, I agree. There's an awful lot of things that can be done with a second movie. Heck, Kawamori has the option of going with altogether new concepts. We probably won't know anything more (even for speculation purposes) until the first movie hits the theatres.

Oh sure, we know GN technology is another animal, just as G00 is another animal. But the similarity is striking. What results in an overdose of GN particles? <SPOILER SNIPPED>

Grace in Macross Frontier on the other hand, sought to control fold waves via the Vajra due to the availability of their fold quartz. If she would have succeeded, she could benefit from what I stated prior.

The similarities are quite something, I'll give you that.
However, telepathic abilities or linkage over long distances are not really anything new in Gundam series, either. The original had it. Let's just chalk it up to resemblances and leave it at that, shall we?

Not really; especially since it's been a common Gundam trope since forever ago, and Macross Frontier uses it totally differently in terms of plot and theme. Admittedly, this might be a bit of a defensive reaction on my part to watching Gundam 00's ending .

Well as of right now, we don't know who's hand that was with Alto's (at least I think it's Alto.) It's probably Sheryl's since they were sitting there and talking with each other but that's just speculation.
