This episode was better than the first. While the pacing is still fast compared to the VN, it was acceptable. The only parts that bothered me were the ingot scene and the last scene. Too bad Goldenslaughterer didn't start from the beginning but I'm glad it was used. And Daisuke Ono's acting in the Drama CD was much better than it was in this episode, though that might have been because the shed scene was cut short.

Also because Battler was so slow.

I'm starting to think they reordered the events in that scene at the last minute, and had Battler's scream just after Jessica's initially.

Wow, the deaths seem so random. I mean Rosa and Shannon? I wonder if there's really a connection between what order people die in?

About the mis-timed ending, it hardly bothered me... Detail here being I was too grossed out by the screenshots to watch the actual scene fully.
Since the voice acting wasn't the problem, was it mostly the body language that made this scene lose impact? Or overall timing?

For me it was a little of both. Body language majorly concerning Battler for me.

Timing and facial expressions. Battler has a freaked out look, then a neutral look, then a pause... THEN "OMGGGG!!!!"

It was just odd the way it looked. A last minute reordering of scenes makes sense now that I think about.

Shouldn't we have a thread for ep3 now, or am I completely wrong?

Well that certainly sounds odd.

There was a strange long pause in the dialog too, but I filled in the blanks with what I know from the VN. Funny how that works...

Thanks for the answer, both of you.

Loool it was fast . Already 6 people owned and poor Shanon . I though that she will live longer . I thought Kanon was a girl lol . Well , i kinda feel that Battler wasn't very shocked for his parents dead . He didn't scream or whatever like that .
Gotta like Maria , she's sick

he cried and screamed in the VN (as in the manga and Drama CD) I think Deen pushes the James-Bond rule on him (James Bond wasn't allowed to cry as well)

They can't keep that up for the whole anime, at least I hope not. Battler cries all the damn time. XD

Seems like a trick of the cutting of the scene. They seem to have cut in Eva's husband and the doctor's talk before Battler's reaction is shown...that adds time rather than having him go for it right after seeing the bodies. After hearing the CD Drama, it just means they reversed the scenes.

As an anime and not as an adaptation, this episode was much better than the first. However, this is mostly not because of the anime, but rather because I knew more names in episode 2 than I did in episode 1, so I connected more with the characters. Pacing aside, this episode was more interesting at least. I just hope that...well, I'll care more about the characters later.

Spoiler for major episode 2 spoilers:

That's because sudden deaths are more unexpected than just plain discussions on sharing money.

We're in the 2nd and Umineko is already getting the after-Hinamizawa syndrome.

Interesting episode, wow, things finally got underway this episode. I had a bad feeling about poor shannon during that confession scene, and it seems I was right, just didn't expect it so soon. Beatrice must be a witch, how else would you explain the magic tv, that Maria is watching that can play shows, from 20 some odd years in the future. I'm finally getting into the ending theme for this show, it's quite cool.
