You do realize you can't create more information by upscaling. The most that will happen is that the upscaling algorithm will create additional pixels by averaging the ones nearby. You'll have more pixels, but they won't contain any more detail than was in the original.
Also 480p and 720p have very different aspect ratios. 480p has either 640 or 720 pixels horizontally so the aspect ratio is either 4:3 or 3:2. 720p is a 16:9 ("widescreen") format, so you'll end up with either black bars on either side to fill in the missing space, or the entire picture will be stretched horizontally. Faces will appear wider, for instance.
