I wonder why SHAFT took this job, this is really unexpected. I wish they'd do Katanagatari instead.

I kind of happy that Shaft is doing this since Shinbo is more suited to dead serious, action and ero shows than comedy. Though I won't put my expectation in it since I dislike the source material, but Yoshino Hiroyuki and Konno Naoyuki participation somewhat interest me.

You know what SHAFT should really do? "Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge". It's a strange series, again I think they are made for each other.

Yep. Besides, HSotD isn't that great anyway. It's just a bunch of disproportioned boobs flopping around.
I wish people wouldn't be so quick to say "Oh, I'm not gonna watch this." when a trailer hasn't even been released yet.

A little google trip in order to see what the thing was dealing with brought me to pages showing a half naked loli teasing a boy with some "anti-sun lotion".

That's quite leaving me in despair... once again, Shinbo is going to waste his talent.

I would brush aside "vampire politics" on a normal day, but if Shaft and Shinbo are at the helm, then I'll watch.

I beg too god that its not an OVA I really hope it wont just be a 12-13 episode, but I do hope it will be over 22 episodes, like 24-26.

I've read the manga up to volume four and I think it's a very good series. I wish there weren't so many people pissin' and moaning about it all ready. Just wait for a trailer at least.
BTW, offficial site is now open with nothing except for the lushious picture of Mina.

The author has updated his blog, saying something among the line of "you'll be surprised if you only know comedy-Shinbo", "An approach in this series is totally different from what you seen in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei" and "I'm Shinbo fan after all (lol)". The PV is total of full two minutes. Sendenman blog also write "there'll be blood, action and nude scene".

Can I take this as Shinbo going back to his former style?

I hope Shaft does this same approach if they decide to do the Shina Dark anime.

I don't agree with this. From what i've heard about Katanagatari, and going by the art and such, SHAFTxShinbo are the ones that shouldn't work on this series. Just because they're doing Bakemonogatari, doesn't mean the same applies for this work.

Hopefully Shinbo uses a lot of the same techniques he did in Soultaker and Tsukuyomi. They'd be perfect for this.
