Are any of you familiar or even fans of the show Eureka, thats shown on Sci-Fi, or Sy Fy now? I think a Crossover with Haruhi would be hilarious and fun.

Eureka 7, the anime? If so, I liked the 2nd half of that anime a lot. 1st half has some good episodes, but Renton annoyed me a bit.

...Yes, a crossover could be hilarious and fun. Are you thinking of Haruhi piloting a mecha into battle against Anemone? Also, Eureka's conversations with Nagato could be interesting...

I think the fact that he said the Eureka on "Sci-Fi" pretty much excludes Eureka 7.

Aside from news and sports, I haven't watched actual TV in a long time. So, I didn't know what was airing on Sci-Fi at the moment. Thanks for the correction, all the same.

As Okami said, it's technically Syfy now.

God knows why though...

Because the network execs hate geeks and nerds, is why.

So instead they'll pick a name for the network that sounds even geekier and nerdier.

Yeah, I know.

Article is here, though I don't suggest reading it if you want to keep any faith in humanity. Also note that while they insult gamers earlier in the article, they talk about developing an MMO later on.

I'm so glad I get Space...

Ah... that's probably another reason why I thought Eureka 7. I knew we had a cable sci-fi channel in Canada, but I didn't think it was actually called Sci-Fi (or SyFy). Yes, you're right - we get Space.

Well here's what Eureka is about, Basically it's about a Sheriff, that lives in town full of geniuses and their families, most of whom work for a huge R & D company. Weird stuff there happens all the time, time loops, fluctuations in the gravity, that kind of stuff, and it's his job to pretty much figure it all and save the day. If you can find it online or something definetly check it out

So, in short, their sheriff is like their Kyon.

Where was he during Endless Eight?!

In all seriousness, though, that does sound like a good cross-over for Haruhi.

By the way, there really is a town in California named "Eureka".

This isn't the "Let's talk about Eureka" thread, you know.

Quick question, I am new to publishing fanfic, many people mention fanfiction.net, is this the best site to join for doing anime-oriented fanfic or are there others I should consider?

For a strict Haruhi fic (i.e. a non-crossover Haruhi fic), it's pretty good. I put up a strict Haruhi fic just last night, and I already have two reviews of it (and I have no significant reputation whatsoever on fanfiction.net).

A few tips if you use fanfiction.net...

1) Patience is important. There is a "loading" time of sorts for fanfic uploads. For the initial upload, it can be 4 to 8 hours.

2) Check the edit/preview of your fanfic before you put it up - fanfiction.net sometimes badly screws up italics, bolds, and fonts for me. It's usually fine though.

3) It's generally better to put up any fanfic in an one quick update at a time fashion - it's been my experience that if you put up the entirety, or a substantial chunk, of a lengthy fanfic, all at one time, you don't get many responses. Perhaps people are intimidated by the length.

Fanfiction.net is the most popular.

That being said, Fanafiction.net is the most popular.

a very large majority of what's there is garbage, but theres some diamonds in the rough.

Plus, the readers of FF.net can be picky. It's hard to know what they'll like and won't like. The general rule, though, is that if you don't get a whole lot of reviews, you're stuff needs work. This is a catch 22, since you need feedback to know whats wrong, and not everyone is willing to read crap just to give advice. Generally, the really good stuff becomes popular, but sometimes good fics are overlooked for various reasons.

I will say this. Never underestimate the power of a good preview.

Edit: I should also note that occasionally crap comes to the top, too. I hate reading a bad fanfic that everyone seems to love for no understandable reason.

The good reviewers of bad fanfics are mostly fanatic shippers.
