I guess it's play on Faldio's name and his change in character by replacing his name with that of "Fabio", referring to the renowned male model who appeared in several romance novels. Just google "Fabio" and I'm sure you'll get it right away.

But hey, don't look at me. I'm probably just reading too much into what could've easily been a typo that caught on. It's just funnier when I think about it this way.

You sir are correct. Fabio is every woman's fantasy back in the days appearing in countless numbers of romance novel covers and who could forget. IT'S THE I CANT BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTTER GUY!

edit : Plus who could forget his greatest role in the movie Zoolander where he won a "Slashie award" which means he was considered to be an actor slash model and not the other way around.

edit2: This series shall be forever known as "The Fabio Chronicles" (Shiroth's idea) Or maybe ...

The Valkyria, the Fabio, and the Chronicles.

Valkyria Chronicles 2: "Revenge of the Fabio"

How to lose a Valkyria in 10 days (starring Fabio)

blah out of ideas.

edit3: That's Shin Asuka's Gundam btw for those who didn't get the joke.

Part A:
On a quasi-random note, I think it's interesting how people keep complaining about the screentime and focus that Faldio is getting in this adaptation. This reminds me of a certain other romance-centric show where viewers got mad that the show's main heroines were being chronicled because they were the losers and not the winners (and people felt they were "robbed" of the show they thought they were "promised"). And I sort of feel, in many ways, that this is what this anime is trying to do -- it's chronicling the "fallen" as much if not more so than it's chronicling the "heroes". But people can't seem to reconcile the fact that the show is giving focus to characters who aren't, in other senses, the "lead characters". Part of this, I suppose, is because they just don't like the characters being focused on as much as the true "main characters" or the way they've had to develop the "main characters" as a result, but I don't think that's the whole story either.

Part B (not really all that related to Part A):
Anyway, all in all I find that this forum is rather oppressive, with people constantly harping on how the anime writers are incompetent and how the show is a total disaster as if this is foregone objective conclusion. Most of these complaints are the very same we've had for months now, but it's as if there's a core group of people (we might call them "fans") who just don't tire of patting each other on the backs with their shared dislike for the show. I don't think some even watch it anymore; they just wait for someone else to post some screenshots or comments, and then take turns circle-beating the show for the latest perceived failure. How disgraceful. This isn't to say that people should only post if they have something nice to say, as legitimate criticism is certainly welcome, but the opinions of those still enjoying the show have been effectively drowned out, giving further rise to the impression that the only people left are fellow haters. A look around the blogosphere and on other anime forums does not seem to support this conclusion.

So, a request. Negative opinions are definitely welcome, but if it's beyond you to state your opinions without coming across as an arrogant, condescending prick, then you are welcome to leave. Circle-beating "me too" type replies that add nothing to the discussion, and any form of image retort or reply, are equally suspect. Those unable to tell the difference between these and legitimate posts will be "assisted" in this process. And before you act all offended, please carefully re-read the paragraph to consider if your actions truly warrant your feeling included. If they do warrant your feeling included, then the offense is intended. This sort of behaviour is in violation of the Forum Rules. Replies to this request in this thread will be summarily deleted; you are welcome to contact me via PM if you have concerns.

Even though you may dislike the show passionately, this forum is intended to be a place where legitimate discussion of the content of the anime can occur. If your only contribution is to whine, whinge, and moan about how they're not giving you the anime you've always wanted and feel you "rightfully deserve", episode threads aren't the right place for that. We're here to discuss the content of the episode in the anime as presented, and possibly to make fair and legitimate comparisons to the material as presented in the game, where applicable. If you're not here for those reasons, or reasons that are otherwise compatible with the purpose of this thread, you may leave.

I do have to wonder if that's how a Valkyria's power is measured. I mean i can't blame anime only fans for thinking that after the events in this episode, and i wouldn't be surprised if they make some half arsed explanation later on that it is.

I think Alicia has a more romantic love. And maybe because her love is returned more it makes a difference.

No, you can't blame us and if they do provide an explanation, you can guarantee it will be half assed. haha.

I liked the episode yet i didnt like parts of it that felt disconnected. I must admit i am at a loss as how Alicia who recently awakened to her Valkyria powers could over power and out maneuver Selvaria. I have seen theories posted here but nothing concert i have a hard time believing that a Valkyria's power is based off an emotion like love the stronger the love the stronger the power i just think thats half assessed. I hope we do get some sort of explanation into it.

I was not as interested in Alicia awakening her powers as the aftermath and how she will be treated by the squad and the military afterwards. I will have to wait for episode 22 for that.

I rated this episode 6 i actually meant to rate it a 7. I did so becasue it felt like the episode was rushed along just so we could get the showdown at the Valkyria corral. The events didnt seem to flow well for me especially how a the princess could be taken hostage and no one really gave a damn.

*mods if you could fix my vote from 6 to 7 it would be appreciated.*

I would do that for you, but I don't see how to do this. It seems we can change the number of votes in each category, but not the names that are associated with each, and if we did this, it obviously wouldn't add up. A very strange way of programming the vote system, I must say... So anyway -- sorry, don't think I can do it as a mod. Probably the only way is modifying the database entries.

meh, l wonder if they will even bother explaining it.... l'm more interested in them explaining the connection between smexy valkyria and alicia.
regarding the power difference l've always wondered if they weren't equal....
when they fought it was obvious that alicia was in a berserk like trance wgich l think amplified her power even more....and selvaria was able to hold her own for a short period. hopefully we get to see another battle between without alicia being in berserk mode.

i think "berserk" should not be the word to describe Alicia, it is more like "pure", she is like not concious and only has one thing in a her mind - to save Welkin

what ever it is, i hope they do explain it

about the fight between 2 Valkyrias, it is not exciting enough...

.
Hmm, that could be a way of seeing it....alicia deep down knows welkin at least cares for her.... sadly for selvaria she probably knows Max only sees her as a tool....but she doesn't mind being one out of her love for him.

Call it pure....but she certainly has no control of what she is doing....

about the fight....it really wasn't one.....all Selvaria do was mostly be on the defense and from time to time unleash an attack that's why l want a rematch with concious alicia!

It's not that Selvaria held her own. It's that she tried to be on the offensive for the most part, and got her butt kicked as soon as Alicia went on the offensive herself.

One thing the anime has given itself, is the chance to explore the connection between Alicia and her secret heritage more, thanks to a certain scene in this episode.

Personally, I see her transformation (as obvious it is, thanks to the OP) could've been less... sudden perhaps? Actually, it's both a spoiler and sudden at the same time. Showing a few more hints than what we get by the ruins and the glowing ragnite (plus the spoiler from the OP), and gradually revealing the hidden truth until one very pivotal moment is what I would prefer.

But hey, whatever... "A loaded gun in the beginning of the story will have its trigger pulled by someone in the end," as the line goes. It still follows this way of thinking, but despite that I can't help but feel that it's still somewhat sudden. I mean, why Alicia?

Agreed. I hope they continue to explore that.

i don't get it, why does faldio have to awaken alicia's valkyria power? he could've ask princess cordelia since he is 100% sure she is a descendent of valkyrian.

As this production progresses, you will find out why soon enough. It may be surprising.

I'm not gonna lie; I've been a proponent of the Hair Theory for a while with regards to Cordellia, but I lost some of that confidence until last episode. It became abundantly clear that the Hair Theorists are going to get some vindication soon, and that makes me happy.

I hypothesize that Cordelia isn't a real Valkyria since she is only a puppet ruler and all that. But only time will tell and I don't want anymore to neither confirm nor deny my hypothesis!
