I have watched Mezzo Forte, and there were a lot of points that I liked and I still do (storyline, for example). By the way, even Kite has something good - it leaves really strong impression Have to watch Gilgamesh to make a conclusion, though.

I agree with you on Firestorm, haven't seen Mezzo, but I completely disagree on Gilgamesh- and I'm not alone in this opinion.

How many episodes of Gilgamesh did you watch? 1? Because I thought Gilgamesh was practically a masterpiece in the ranks and sensibilities of Evangelion. It has a brilliant story, a very original look (even if the animation does look low budget AT TIMES), really atmospheric music, and very memorable characters. It also has a much more adult tone to it, which was quite enjoyable. I also thought that the ending was quite effective- if you watched the whole thing, did you watch past the credits of the final episode?....heh heh heh.

Pick, I hope you enjoy Gilgamesh, but I warn you that it is quite dark

REALLY SUCKS! they changed the music, the intro, the ending, the cut and paste some scenes and the have ugly voices! The ended up deteriorating the whole story.

Another good example of these is Saint Seiya, or Zodiac Knights, which is being shown on cartoon network at midnight. This is one of the greates anime series of all time and here it just suck, they have altered this anime so much that the whole consept of the show has been changed. Now, when you see saint seiya in cartoon network it is like whatching Power Rangers!!

SO DON'T ANYONE IN THE U.S DARE SAYING THAT DBZ, SAINT SEIYA SUCK BECAUSE THEY DON'T! GO AND WATCH THEM IN SPANISH OR JAPANESE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES AND YOU WILL LIKE IT A LOT MORE!
....there ARE uncut DVDs you know....the first two seasons were SUBLICENSED to Pioneer who butchared it....i hear they plan to redo them eventually (FUNimation). And ingore all these fools taht say "DBZ SUCKS" they just want attention by saying popular shows such, they probably think Naruto sucks too...

i'm sorry but i personally don't find a show that centers around a CARD game to be fascinating at all (at least the manga had several other games the characters played)

well, i assume you are talking about "Yugioh! Duel Monsters" and NOT the "Yugioh!" TV show, the ORIGINAL show (made in japan, never licensed or aired in the US) follows the manga....it ended short tho, and there is MORE to the show than just the "Card game" as well in the one you are talking about. The first saga pretty much was, the 2nd saga led into some main plot, and at one point they don't really play much cards...but them use them (Hard to explain)...

For a moment there, I thought you meant Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters being good. You were scaring me for a moment. Never seen the original series, but I hate Duel Monsters. It's just a black hole of commercialized SUCK. Everyone is a cardboard cut out, but then again I applogize for insulting the cardboard.

Sure the manga 's good now, but these will be the last good chapters in the U.S. Shonen Jump. Treasure these last few chapters, for they will be the last now card game related ones, unless they don't focus on that crappy card game every chapter.

well, i am talking about both, none of the GOOD episodes of the Yugioh card game emphasized show are on tho....plus it is so butchared you can't really get a feel of that good DARK SIDE of the yugioh series (which is all cut out...)

Personally, this show didn't have enough pull in terms of a coherent story and flow in it's beginning- and I'm not about to waste money to watch its end because of it.

Anyway, If it's so good then enlighten me of what occurs later because as it stands I don't see this show as making any sense.

Exactly what is wrong with YuGiOh!?

Just because it's not aimed toward +13 year olds it doesnt' make it a bad show.

Why does it suck?

It's not your target audience?
It deals with cards?
It comes after Pokemon?

C'mon. The story is even pretty good, amazingly.

An Ancient Power that is used to save the world.

HAH where have we heard that story from? that all you people rave the show kicks ass from?

Flame of Recca
Escaflowne
Ittekiosen

Some others you can prove me wrong. but the premise of an ancient power saving the world isn't new.

If any of you actually bothered to watch more then 10 episodes of YuGiOh. You'll see that YuGi's wins are rather bullshit and interesting at the same time. All the time it's rather original

i LOVE Tenjou Tenge...i don't understand how any man between the ages of 13 and 30 can't like it...watch it for the action like you should, and the fanservice is MINISCULE compared to: 1) the manga, 2) Ikkitousen

Yu Gi Oh, however, can never redeem itself in my eyes. "An ancient power used to control the world?" sorry i've heard that one a dozen times over, and many times with better execution of plot and less cookie cutter characters (Yugi was designed as a corporate logo, Kaiba's personality can be seen in dozens of anime characters from dozens of genres, even shoujo anime features characters with his personality type)
and the method of winning isn't original, it's contrived. The only reason to watch the show is to see what kind of contrived technique he'll come up with next, and most of the time you know the main character will win (he loses, what, 2, 3, maybe 4 times? in over 100 episodes with at least that many battles?)
plus you really could do the show with cardboard cut outs...the art looks detailed because the characters don't have to move much
i'm not basing this on nothing, i've seen the show. the manga that i've read couldn't hold my attention and i STILL say it was better
and yes, i am not part of the show's target demographic, but that by no means denies me the right to strongly dislike this show

And that's my point exactly, if the anime isn't YuGiOh, and also has that ancient power saving the world thing, people are raving about it. Just because it's not aimed toward a older audience people automatically deem it suck.

Cardboard cutouts? What? Just because they don't deal with swords and fly around with a black background and some beam of light? C'mon you haven't even watched the show, sure you can say you've seen like 2 episodes and such. Admit it. You wouldn't give it a chance even if it came to you and slapped you in the face. I was liek that too, I'll admit it, I said this show must be fucking stupid. Then watched some episodes and my perception of YuGiOh changed.

Sure it doesn't deny you of not liking the the show, but don't base your judgement on that. You may not be part of the demographic but it can still be a good show.

NEVER Base a rating on who's the show's aiming toward.

Like Dumbo the cartoon movie from Disney. It's not aimed toward Adults, but at Kids, but still it's a GREAT movie. I'm just sick of people that hate shows just because they claim "it's gay, and looks so childish". My pet Peeve

TenTen I stopped watching after the Bowling Alley bash. The level of animation used for the fights was- disappointing. I'd stick to the manga anyway since the story has been steadily picking up since that part. The anime adaptation hasn't really done justice to the dynamic action and fights that are part of the package. That's sad because if they got the animation right, put back the ecchi humour and focused more on Masataka now I'd still be watching.

Not overall bad, just mediocre IMO

I actually agree with you about people who think stuff like Pokemon, Digimon, and other shows suck simply because they're popular with the 8 year old market. I think some of these shows are highly underrated by a large portion of the anime fandom that happens to be a little on the insecure side.

However, you completely ignored every complaint Kyuven had without even addressing them. You blamed Kyuven's dislike of the show on the 'target audience' thing, and just ignored every valid point brought to the table.

Some people hate shows simply because it seems to be "cool" to hate that show, other people might hate the same show but have actual reasons for disliking it. Don't automatically assume everyone fits into the former category.

I personally have no opinoion on the show because I've not seen it.

Accually as I said before (altho you are the dumbest fuck on this forum from the post i have seen from you....) that it doesn't REALLY get good til the 100s, altho since you can't READ past the first sentance cuz of your incompetince....that is just your problem...

Target Audience?

I'm not talking of the censored american version, the JAPANESE version....let me say it AGAIN so a dumb fuck like you can understand, the JAPANESE version is a VERY dark show, i agree that the first saga sucks (which includes what you saw you idiot...), but it is one of those shows you have to stick with for it to get good (apparently you have the patience of a 3 year old so icna't blame you for not liking it).

If you want a REAL taste of what yugioh was MENT to be go take a peak at the manga in your local book store, you MAY be supprised, it was NOT really suitable for children in the US...hience target audience is NOT 12- year old kids....

Power to save the world?

If you saw the REAL plot, you find out the power is not a power that SAVES the world, but basically they are using the power of the UNDERWORLD (evil powers..also SLIGHTLY changed in the US version....ok...maybe COMPLETELY changed... )...

That would definitely be pokemon! It's one of the few anime that I saw dubbed first and hated it and still hated it after I saw the original! And I'd put DBZ right along with it...

DBZ anime may suck but the manga is pretty revolutionary though I lost interest after the whole Cell saga.. ;D

Hmm, the worst is Mouse in my opinion. Pointless crap, didn't have any remorse when I deleted it off my HDD and I didn't bother to burn it to CDs either. Other honorable mentions are The End of Evangelion which in my opinion, attempts to be philosophical and fails horribly at that turning the whole OVA into some messy direction-less mind breaker and Witch Hunter Robin which mysteriously turns very boring ep13 onwards. I was dissapointed as the first half of the series was decent actually..

EDIT: I just realized I've bumped a dead thread. O_o My apologies..
