Hi, guys. I've just recently finished watching Kenkoo Zenrakei Suieibu Umishou, and loved it. Considering that Rough is one of my favorite mangas of all time, and that I was a competitive swimmer in my high school days, I was wondering if there are any more animes or mangas that focus on the sport, in any way - and I've already searched the forum, but have only found recommendations for Umishou and KGNE - both of which I've seen already.
Even a main character who enjoys swimming or surfing would be nice. So, are there any?

I think you've probably watched Zegapain, I really haven't seen much anime with a swimming focus. But there's tons of pool fanservice episodes out there lol
I also recommend you to watch the movie 'Water Boys', a wonderful movie about a group of guys who are obsessed with synchronised swimming and wants to keep the school club alive.

Actually, no, I hadn't heard about Zegapain at all, so thanks for that, mate!
![]() But Water Boys was a nice movie, loved it - also, the Rough live-action movie is quite nice, as well.

Yeah, that would qualify, mate. Fortunately or not, I've watched that series already. But, barring something completely about swimming, that would be exactly what I'm looking for.

The second arc of 5 Centimeters Per Second, has a character that likes to surf as the lead character of that arc. That being said, it isn't even really the focus of the arc, so it's not ideal by any means. When she does it, they aren't even very long scenes really, but they animation is pretty amazing, great use of light especially.

Beck: Mongolian chop squad has a few episodes about swimming, while I certainly wouldn't call it a swimming anime the swimming parts were fun and the series is a real winner in it's own right.

All of Yoichi Komori's manga are about diving and other underwater activities, but none of them are about swimming per se.

I don't know whether I'd call it swimming, but in Real Drive the characters "dive" into "The Metal," a huge network of artificial intelligence. This action is portrayed as if they were deep-sea diving.

I was about to say Umisho... lol
I have to suggest Amano-sensei's latest work: Amanchu!--- a manga about diving. (thread at AS). Link gorgeous artwork, very nice and quirky characters (all-girls so far), and Slice-of-Life along the same lines as ARIA (for the obvious reasons). Highly recommended! |

Wow, this one looks really nice, thanks!
I just noticed that I forgot to acknowledge some suggestions: 5cm Per Second is one of my all-time favorite movies, and yeah, that "arc" was really nice. As for Beck, I haven't seen it yet, and it's kinda hard to get around these parts, but I'll try to look for it. Thanks to both of you, Telmah and mit7059.
