Character Discussion - Riza Hawkeye

The purpose of this thread is to provide a place to discuss all things Riza Hawkeye related. Without her, who would watch Mustang.
To keep the discussion enjoyable for all Fullmetal Alchemist fans, please follow the guidelines below and stay on-topic!
Note: Please don't use this for the specifics (i.e. episode, chapter, game, etc. discussion) there are other threads for that stuff.
Thread Guidelines
  • No campaigning!
No "hate" or "xyz must die" posts. Discuss why you do or don't like characters without whinging and whining or blatantly campaigning for your favourite.

  • Be polite to your fellow forum members.
Do not insult or harass other members for their likes and dislikes. Do not take it so seriously that you end up in an argument with another forum member because they express a fondness for a character you loathe. Discussion and good spirited banter are always welcome, but harassing people will not be tolerated.

  • Discuss, don't chat.
Please remember that AnimeSuki is a discussion forum, not a chat room, there is a difference. If you wish to chat, then please make use of our IRC channel.

  • Have fun, but post intelligently.
It's great to have fun, but please try your best to add substance to what you post and make your thoughts interesting for the generation of fans that will follow after you’re long gone and on to watching some other series.

  • Use Spoiler tags!
Spoilers are allowed, but they must be enclosed in spoiler tags clearly marked with a proper title. Failure to do this can result in a BAN.

    • Adding a Spoiler tag:
Just highlight your spoiler and click the button found on the "Quick Reply" and "Reply to Thread" forms. Make sure that you include a title for the spoiler!

    • Please use the Report button if you see any spoilers:
Click the button found to the left of the post, just under the poster's avatar. Using the Report button is anonymous and helps the Moderators to locate and deal with problems quickly.

    • Posting prohibited spoilers may result in a ban.
Note: Reporting a post does not mean the poster will be banned instantly. The Moderators will use bans if warnings are repeatedly ignored.

Yeah. I love her rather weird relationship with Roy. It's so darn interesting...

Her relationship with Roy is one of favorites out there in anime/manga. The sense of trust, understanding and, in a way, complicity between them is quite amazing.

It's more protective and motherly than anything else.

Nah it's definitely not motherly. You will see more of Riza's relationship with Roy and how it came about as the series progresses.

Yeah, I know that. I just think it's the same situation as in the case of WinryXElric bros. Roy's too busy stirring up a beehive in the military to notice.

my best female character in the series

actually i like her since the manga, as more of her is revealed in the manga

in anime, her actions and personallity is even cooller

my opinion on her relationship with Roy:
- Riza views Roy as the most important person/thing in the world
- Roy views Riza as someone he has to protect

My favorite female character, period. She's always been one of my favorite characters in the series and she really brings a lot to it. I also think she's essentially a deeply rooted part of Roy's own character. Without Riza, Roy wouldn't really be Roy. She completes him. It also works the other way around. There's no way I can see those two without each other.

Spoiler for manga:

Wonder what role Riza'll play in the final arc. I'm sure Arakawa-sensei would be smart enough to give her a nice part in it...

I'm sure Arakaway will give Riza a good part in the last chapters of the manga. She's never been one to forget characters. Heck, she even brought back Yoki from the coal mine after everyone's forgotten about him.

Uh, Riza's already had a pretty big part in the final arc.

Not saying she won't have any more, but I wouldn't be surprised if that had been her final main contribution to the story.

If it turns out that way, I'd be rather sad...

Interesting. I didn't know they were together even during the Ishval war.
