I think you're the only one who wanted to see a slow paced episode..

EP4's beginning was really boring in the VN..

This is the best episode of Umineko so far, the animation, music and directing were all superb. DEEN really saved the best for last. I'll never doubt them again! Also, anyone who disagrees is a poopy head.

I kinda have to agree. To be honest the entire Ange-Maria stuff really dragged sometimes. I found myself falling asleep during some parts.

Sakutarou is easily my favorite part about this episode. I like his voice, I like his design... and the scenes he was in were even more adorable thanks to his presence. I think Minori Chihara did a nice job voicing him. :3

Amakusa's voice fits I guess... I dunno, something about it doesn't seem quite right to me.

I'm loving the creative store/restaurant names. =P

I keep watching the Rosa, Maria, and Sakutarou scenes over and over again. In all honesty they were my favorite parts of this episode (of the anime and EP4 in its entirety). ^^

I think it was clear from the beginning that this would have been the only part where (almost) nobody would be angry at the cuts.

I liked Ep4's slower bits, although I can see why not many people would like them and why they wouldn't work in an anime...

The first time I played this part in the VN it was dragging a bit, but the second time I tried to enjoy it at the fullest because it was over so fast.

Well I guess this episode was okay.. I wonder what an anime only friend of mine will say, he already mentioned that he don't want to see Ange as main character as he fears a lot of time jumps will come along with it and he isn't ready yet

It's not a chess move per se. "Zug" also refers to an action in a game. Basically, Zugzwang means being forced to move your piece. "Compulsion to move" is Wikipedia's translations.

because it is rudolf, duh. he even smokes!

Yeah the anime does make Battler look a bit too serious sometimes. He wasn't even that pissed off at the trick - he just sternly told Beato never to do it again, but he did brush it off.

Dang, I was sure they'd change that scene. Ah well, that means like the first OP this one is meant to represent EP3 & EP4, so they can keep Beto vs Lia. They probably spent so much effort on it they felt it would be a waste to remove it. Though I feel a little sorry for the new characters who aren't in it. Can't wait to see a shortened flashback scene, something I agree very much with.
