Whole ending sucked so bad.. I hated this anime. Dead or Alive? Most likely dead. What was the reason for killing them when all they wanted to do is to live a normal life out of everyones eyes. It wasn't until Sythe Master came back that they were even hunted again. Another anime to be deleted off my HDD because it had a sucky ending.

I'm pretty sure all the viewers of the anime can see or foresaw that the guy with a horse and carriage could be an assassin. Everyone could see it. For Reiji to die or be shot by something we can all see or something that is so predictable is a butchery to the whole story and the whole character development he went through.

And come getting killed at a random field in Mongolia while watching ths sunset while the only person you care about is smiling from her heart for the first time...the're no way you could see that coming Plus that scene should have been really emotional for him.In reality when you kill a person you probably go crazy but then again there are those extreme cases where people just stop responding emotionally to that and view life as nothing important. It becomes just pulling the trigger. I think this cases only apply in extreme conditions though like war and similar things. Yet he didn't really loose his emotiones he just locked them out...somehow and not all of them. I believe his character can't be compared to a development of a real person really since you can't just lock part of your emotions and act on others. And I believe the got killed to close the circle and again repeat the "we're phantoms that can't exist anyware" theme of the anime. It could have been better and I would have loved it if it was (especially a happy one with all three of them living happilly) but it wasn't. And since for me the end they gave us made sense it's good enough for me. |

Interesting.
Although it matters none to the plot, now that I'm re-watching the OVAs, I noticed that Reiji also had a little sister. The reason he travelled to America was a reward from his parents for getting accepted into college. I'm glad I re-watched the OVAs, I have forgotten that they graphically covered the fact that Ein used to work in a brothel before Sycthe picked her up. I'm sure Ein fans like me won't be happy seeing this though. ![]() Spoiler for NSFW:

I finished this anime, the end is really... wtf
. I think everything would be right to the end... and... PIOU! wth Reiji is dead? For real?! I'm a bit disappointed but this "bad" end is "stunning", with the 2nd ending song which begin and Reiji who is smiling... That's really sad! And Eren who smile too at the end .About my impressions in general, this anime is a bit disappointing. I love some BEE Train's works like Noir, Madlax, .Hack//Sign (and I hate some of their stuff like El Cazador, Avenger, Tsubasa Chronicle ).First, the soundtrack is ok, but not awesome. The first opening is really good by the way (KARMAAAAAAAAAAAA ). Some track are good too. Gunfight are a bit boring. Like a lot of BEE Train's works, the pace is slow. First episodes of Phantom Requiem were a bit boring, but the 2nd arc is really good. I thought the show went well, but... the arc with adult Cal (I hate her ) and the school stuff was, like the 1st arc, boring... Anyway, the end was great because of that "stunning moment"...Too bad the "2nd arc" doesn't have more episodes. Reiji was badass .

Oh come on you guys, you are still at it?
After so many complains I actually start to get really happy with the ending. Atleast we didn't get a typical ending. Life isn't that fair and people who develop in life don't always survive, they usually die. And Phantom series had proved it to us that being main character and developing through series is not a ticket for your survival. |

Because tropes can be done badly. I felt they Dropped A Bridge On Them. (I felt)
Besides, we stopped complaining a looooong time ago.
