Personally, I don't think codenames like C.C. or V.V. mean anything. But, all the same, we have no information on why Code bearers go by these codenames. So, we've got nothing to discuss unless we get some information.
Hopefully, this project will shed more info on Geass and its mysteries.

I like the idea of a prequel to CG, it's the perfect excuse to show how Britannia came to be and explore the CG universe. Besides, I'm a huge fan of Napoleonic warfare and that's exactly how Britannia would fight during this time, which is awesome. I'd love some Last Samurai-esque anime action.
If they do a direct sequel to R2 the safest bet would be a Les Enfantes Terribles type of project where Lelouch is cloned. He'd have the same looks, and attributes, but be a different person.

This announcement really made my day the other day. New Code Geass. Hope things go well. This new manga sounds pretty interesting and can't wait to get more information regarding it as well as any other work they have planned.
As far as the franchise is concerned, I always thought of Zero as the iconic figure of the series (outside of Lelouch). Obviously it'll be difficult to follow up the awesomeness that was Lelouch with a new character, but I always imagined if they ever did new series, they could always go AU and have a character that utilizes the Zero persona in one way or another. I also agree that a certain amount of Lelouch's characteristics should in some way be carried over into the new series, whether its the main character or otherwise, as Lelouch really was the show. Without him, we might as well have been watching another gundam As far as Lelouch showing up in any sequels or anything (if there are any direct sequels), I wouldn't mind as long as it was done tastefully, doesn't mess up the geass continuum, and if he returns in a minor capacity like Touma in Railgun. I think it'd be interesting to see him pop in from time to time for whatever circumstance they come up w/ and do his usual awesomeness and I'm sure lots of fangirls would tune in just to see if Lelouch showed up in each weeks episode. Outside of that, Lelouch can stay dead, as Zero Requiem brought about the desired outcome Lelouch sought, in creating a peaceful world for his loved ones and atoning for his sins. I also think an ova series is fine too as they can take their time and include whatever they wanted in the story without dealing with as many restrictions as tv anime due to time. Honestly tho, I'd probably eat up anything code geass as long as its decent and not complete garbage.
