I'm wondering, is there a version of "Lilium" that isn't a minute and a half?

Yeah.
The full version is 3:01.
The extended version is 7:23.
There is a Lilium ~Extended DarkJedi Edition - Final Mix~ at 5:38.
In fact there are many remixes, including trance/techno, a violin version and an ocarina version.
How about a you-tube tutorial on how to play it on the guitar?

Here is what someone who doesn't like this series thinks about it. Be warned that I hate this series and I normally use the harshest words against it but for the sake of reviewing I will be as polite and objective as I can. That is a huge sacrifice on my part!

Spoiler for do not read if you are not open minded:

Damn... I actually read all that... Being a "fan" of this series, I must admit that your "newbie gets shocked" argument sound very convincing, and it's also refreshing to see someone who's reason to dislike EL is not something like "Traumatic childhood? Who cares about that?!"
I'm one of those who got dragged into the anime world, in part, thanks to EL, and now reading your post is making me doubt of my reasons to like this series. I think this calls for a rewatch and see what happens

Full is the original song as published.
TV size is full cut down to fit the OP.
Extended is the full with extra outtake material included.

I actually recommend all the extended versions. They are not just filler, but more of what you like about this song.

My sister is actually pretty similar. She loved Elfen Lied and she's only just turned 13

I like Elfen Lied, but I think it could have gone so much further.

Agree about anime not being so popular.
