They be Gadgets. Windows 7 and Vista come with them installed you can also download custom made ones.

I'm finally on Windows 7. Installed it today with my new built rig.

My PC died the other week with a big bang and lots of sparks (literally, they came out the back)... well it lasted a good 6 years and was still able to play Fallout 3 at 1920x1200 with high res textures (albeit some lacking in shadow detail and reflections).

And thankfully my harddrives survived, yay!
