I think after the predictable success of the Disappearance movie, KyoAni will have enough money to continue FMP, make a Planetarian OVA series/movie, and finally Little Busters! I mean seriously, I bet KyoAni could produce a couple of OVAs of this in like less than a month, plus the fact that there are only like two seiyuus needed to voice the characters (reprising their roles - Ono Daisuke as the Junker, Keiko Suzuki as Yumemi).

An OVA series would be perfect for Planetarian. And regarding the music, I still love listening to Gentle Jena on the piano... such a simple yet effective piece of music. Brings back all the emotions evoked from the VN back when I first read it in 2007.

The funny thing is, if you really think about it, the Visual Novel actually has a happy ending, looking at the "bigger picture." Primarily because:

The junker explains how people had already started making up religions and worshiping random things. The few people who still knew about the nature of the universe had died off, and no one is interested in preserving that knowledge in a world where survival is the only goal. The world is basically a hop skip and a jump away from primitive man at the beginning of the "commemorative presentation". *This* is what makes this a sad story.

Yumemi could likely have continued her mindless ritual for many years more if the projector had never been turned on (a sudden increase and sustained draw of 2000 watts would kill any generator not designed for that capacity). But what would the point be? The momentary re-creation of stars that can no longer be seen by human eyes had a profound effect on the Junker.

As far as Yumemi being "more than a robot", I knew this from the very first scene... the fact that she fudged the customer number. If her optimism was genuine, that would serve no purpose. That little lie is the sign that she already felt no one else would ever come. The "life flashing before her eyes" thing at the end was a nice way to concretely illustrate it.

Anyway, the reason the ending is a happy one is, this one Junker now has the desire to spread knowledge that was already past forgotten before his encounter with her. And it is directly because of her that he does this. In this sense Yumemi and her overly talkative 'bug' served humanity in a far more important way than her creators ever intended.

In addition to inspiring the Junker, that bug had charmed the staff so much they disabled her automatic updates to prevent it from being fixed, which also prevented her from getting the 'shut down' command all her brethren had gotten, allowing their meeting.

The entire story I foresaw no way he could possibly stay with her. He has no food there, and taking her with him wouldn't work since it's not like electricity is easy to come by, and that generator took 8000 hours to charge her enough to move for 160. The memory card thing was completely unexpected, so her fate manages to turn out more hopeful than anticipated.

So yeah, tragic in a small sense, but very hopeful on a larger scale.

i've finished this game not a long time ago,,
though after read the post above, i still think it was a sad one,,

i can't stop my tears that flowed when playing the game~~ T_T the story was just so touching my heart~~

1) editor to finish editing
2) typesetter to finish making the video + typesetting

but I wanted to ask if someone still have those translated files of drama CDs on disk (it was removed from youtube).

I managed to find the doremi mkv of A Snow Globe so I can share that if someone wants but the rest is nowhere to be found. If you have it or know a place to watch/download, please share.

Planetarian is...well, really well-attached story engrave in my mind. I already know what will happen to Reverie, still, it's not waste my time to read this beautiful-tearjerker VN.
