Not my intention. :P But well, I can just not join if the theme is too tedious.

I'll end up not doing because I can't think of an idea for it.

Just like in "Arrows". I'm thinking of another way to depict arrows EXCEPT all that grunge and the "this way" stuff. Well, I ran out of ideas and decided to not join.

The thing to do in such situation is usualy to think outside the box.

My idea should be outside the box, but there are times that I lose all creativity in my brain and I can't do creative stuff even though I wanna.

Oh, and ganbaru, your signature reminds me of breasts.

Let me define it for you: when the theme requires a certain niche artistic skill that can't be replicated in simple steps.

In the monochrome theme, yes we had to use just one color but the process was very straight forward. It was just a do-this kind of thing, where the this was hardly a skill. In the arrow contest you had to basically know how to make arrow art... yes you could sneak it in but arrows are such a eye-catcher its just really disruptive and annoying unless you specialism in using them. This goes with out saying that the options to create your own arrows isn't exactly simple with tools like photoshop; as I mentioned earlier in the submission thread I really find a lot of examples as being ideally done in Illustrater then imported to Photoshop (since Photoshop tools only makes the process very tedious).

@Marcus H. I will be frank, sometime wanting to be creative isn't the best way , as it limit often size and/or quality. Just look a the ways followed with the entries.
1: Most used the arrows as a elements of the background or a element than worked with the render or the text.
2 Some used it as what arrow are: something than indicate a direction ( escimo's and Buttercup~'s entries are a good example.)
3 There was the way I followed: making the sig as a arrow. this way could allow some liberty as the subject of the signature but necessited the use of transparency ( with the issue than it make)
4 There was also the possibility of using the arrow as the render or than a arrow was part of the render. My first attempt and maybe AtomicoX's entry could probably put on this categorie. With this way the main problem was to find the good render.
Each way had their issue; most required some particular skills, some gived better result but all required a idea behind the sig. Some though outside the box other inside of it but allhad a idea.

Off topic

Tbh, I much rather prefer a challenge. This was a hard theme and I shot myself in the foot for going abstract, which is generally an outsider in AS's SOTMs, but it's something I enjoy doing when it's challenging (and it's different). It makes me think more and "flew my creative muscles".

And sometimes, you can't think something up or every attempt fails. Just a matter of trying next time.

Depends. This "challenge" concept can go many way depending on what type it is. For example, theme: "create a signature using only absolute black and white which nothing more then circle with a radius of 30 pixels."

"Provocative shields, equipped of pink tips!" Gave it away, ganbaru.

And you made me confused now. What's the purpose of SOTM anyway if not to be creative?

At least this poem wasn't one of those than had to be removed from the first version of the ''Les Fleurs du Mal'' by Baudelaire

About the goal of the SOTM, I think than everyone have his reason(s); creativity might be one but the competition, trying new skill or something they wouldn't do otherwize or simply the charlenge are some of the reasons some of us are participating to the SOTM.

Oh well, to each their own. Can't argue with that.

I just hope that the topic wouldn't be too mind-effingly difficult for signature newbies like me.
