Aw man, they didn't keep in the part where Makarov went Giant form before saying "beg for mercy."

It would of been more epic. *Sad face*

So I guess the episode with Erigor just didn't happen!

Wow, I really can't wait to see Mystogan in action. It looks like his power level is somewhere between Makarov and Erza. If he was around, I wonder if he would have been strong enough to defeat Jose? Fairy Tail wizards are on another level compared to the rest, apparently.

No, that was just Natsu getting pissed off and giving true 100% stength
Really there's a difference between summoning up more strength and an actual power up...

One way of looking at it is like saying the average fighter only really able to consiously use 80% of their strength... 100% strength is only possible when the proper mental conditions are met... all you are really doing is using strength you always had but could not summon on you're own; this strength is only temporary as you can not consciously reach 100%

an actual power up is a permanent increase in strength... you are able to use that newfound strength whenever you want and it gradually becomes easier to use with every fight

Indeed...
That scene in the manga was absolutely epic

ohh.... looks like we'll see more of Loke soon.
Episode 29's pretty good. It's got a lot more fluidity that I expected.

Why did they bother showing Luxus near the end, he didn't do ANYTHING >_< Oh, and when did Lucy ask Sagittarius if he can make fire? I don't remember seeing that part, only his response later on, which was rather weird.

Probably to show that he didn't have any part in helping in this arc, even in the shadows.

I wonder why they changed so many art things in the anime.

Spoiler for scenes:

Maybe...they dont have enough money for a good animation?.

1. No clue why the did.

2. Actually, the manga writer wanted to draw the Loki/Gajeel scene in the manga, as a foreshadowing of Loki's past, but had to cut it because there was no time. (same thing happened with Bleach: Ashido was actually supposed to appear in the manga)

3. It kind of makes sense that a big ghost would be needed. I mean, if the small ghosts could do that, why didn't they just fly over the members and destroy the guild from the start?

This is a rare moment when the changes from the manga are actually good.

Indeed. Shows that it's more then just your manga to anime adaptation, and much thought has gone into key scenes with anime original. I mean just look at the anime only material for Elfman as an example!

absolutely. Elfman deserves more characterisation, and I just adore the Loke/Gajeel scene. Foreshadowing makes the story so much better in depth.

In the manga the ghosts couldn't fly, and attacked physically with swords and battering rams. The anime made them intangible, so it also had to change the way they knocked down the guild.

I too was kinda disappointed in the "Fairy Law" part...

I too wanted to see the Giant mode, it was sooo epic in the manga, but I guess they scrap it in the anime.

There were many changes, like the ghosts, extra battle scenes and cuted out scenes.
But that's what makes it an anime...
Most of the time manga -> anime adaptation won't be exactly 100% the same due to time restriction and such.
But also they did the changes to make it more "original" to keep it "fresh".

Episode 28 was fantastic. Erza's speech about Lucy was great. She did fairly well, against Jose, but ultimate Jose lost to a most universal law, A short pissed off old man. He really did look like Yoda when he was all Green colored. What language was he counting in? It didn't sound like Japanese. Also Mystogon looks like he would be right at home in Naruto, has kind of Kakashi thing going.

It's Japanese.

Japanese has a number of different ways to say the numbers. There's the basic:
Ichi, Ni, San, Yon/Shi, Go, etc...
But then there's a secondary counting method:
Hitotsu, Futatsu, Mitsu, etc...

Technically the difference is that the second are "counters" that count numbers of things. For example you wouldn't say you have "san no ringo" (three apples), you'd say you have "mitsu no ringo"

In fact there are something like 30 different "counters" that are used depending on the type of object, and 7-8 different conjugation patterns.

In the context used here, counting with Hitotsu, Futatsu instead of "ichi ni" is used purely for emphasis and because it sounds cooler in Japanese.
To attempt to translate it into english you might consider saying "First! Second! Third!" or "Once! Twice! Thrice!" or something, but that would be unnecessarily awkward so I avoided it.
Emphasis is accomplished nicely through the performance.
