Just want to say, this is the most emotional episode I have ever seen in any anime. I cried my eyes out the first time I watched it. The reunion between Tomoya and Ushio was so touching. What really got me was when Tomoya broke down while telling Ushio about Nagisa. He was living in a daze for 5 years and it finally hits him... so sad....

It goes without saying that I give this episode a 10. I've already seen the series a couple of times, but I just had to comment on this particular episode. Best in the series hands down.

Did the 1 out of 10's give it that because it really was painful for the heart? lol.

Probably, I mean some people expect anime to violent, and mindless not something to be emotional moving thus would dislike this xD. You could ask two of the four they look active; others haven't looked looked at forums in sometime.

Also this is only individual episode I think I've bothered to vote for.

Edit: Also looking at votes again, this highest rated episode I've seen here, only bakemogatari 12 compared at all.

Typically, there's always 10s and 1s as a knee jerk reaction to any episode.

Your typical Animesuki poll typically has a lot of 7-9s, some 5s and 6s, and usually some random 1s, a few 10s. Though of course, this episode was much more approved of for various reasons.

But there's always a few people that don't like it for whatever reason.

This was such a moving episode. Made my eyes misty a few times. Ushio's robot vaguely resembles the the other world robot. It's incredible seeing how incredibly brilliant Sanae is. with setting up the trip and the strict rules about crying.

Sanae is one of the unsung heroes so-to-speak. I believe she is one of the more under-appreciated characters in this series. Sanae's rules about crying weren't simply strict rules, they were used as a catalyst to trigger Tomoya's moment with Ushio in the field of flowers. Sanae also refused to tell Ushio about her mother and with that said, it wasn't just for Ushio's sake, but for Tomoya's as well.

One of the most melancholic moments was when Tomoya stated, "there are many times when you can't cry even when you want to after you grow up" (of course the wording depends on your subs, but that's the gist of it.) By not talking about Nagisa over the span of the 5 years he spent in regret, he wasn't able to cry. That is, until he finally told Ushio about Nagisa. That was another scene that really moved me just as much as the reconciliation between Tomoya and Ushio.

Sanae is indeed an amazing character.

Literally, I sat and watched Episode 18-22 I think it was in one sitting and I don't think I stopped crying once, such an amazing, amazing episode this one.

Well aren't you a glutton for punishment But who am I to say that, I watched 14-21 in one sitting I believe. I had to wait for the final episode to be released because I was catching up while the series was ending, but I ended up so emotionally drained after finishing the series. I literally felt tired

Even so, I feel like it was worth it in the end. An amazing experience

I agree, and it made deciding to watch Clannad purely based off fandom for my kyoani the best decision I made this year so far

To me, that was not only more emotional than the reconciliation, but the most emotional scene in any anime I've seen. I bawled my eyes out the first time I saw it. He was living in a daze for 5 years and it finally hit him. So sad...

Yeah, I should admit, this scene, is different than others.. Imagine, how long have Tomoya left Ushio.. Living alone, left by Nagisa, live without aim. So sad T_T

I think Tomoya thought that scene was more sad too.

Haha, yeah, he did really good though. If I went throught the stuff he did during episodes 16-21, I would certainly act a lot worse than Tomoya did. He did good.
