I was spoilered the first page of ch. 65 and thought "another chapter in the bathroom?" .. thankfully it moves on

I just had a sudden flash of inspiration as to what happened between Saki and Teru that caused their current situation now. So, I'm noting my guess here. When the truth comes, let's compare it.

The reason why Teru doesn't admit Saki as her little sis, is because of her great luck, superb control of the field and the ability to use the "rinshan" to her advantage.

Teru, as compared to her exceptional "blessed with luck" sister, may be the unluckiest person to play mahjong in the series.

All of Teru's tiles are mostly always closed to Juusanpotou (十三不塔). Which explains that in effect, the only kind of hand she can make is Kokushi Musou. We've seen several scenes in the anime from Saki that Kokushi Musou is her sis' tiles.

Three further points to add:

- This will explain why Saki is able to get +-0, including playing with her sister. If Teru will get shitty hands most of the time, Saki doesn't need to do much to get to +-0. If she realises she's gonna get Kokushi Musou, then Saki can just accept it and play catch-up later, as long as she doesn't deal directly into her hand.

- The reason why Teru is now first-up at Shiraitodai is because of her unique situation, which is why the rest of the team finds her "useless", and thus the kind of treatment she gets from their captain.

- Hajime commented in the last episode, that what they saw of the finals last year, that is basically talking about Teru, is that, what they say and realise that at that stage, it's not a matter of true ability or luck, it's something out of this world.

So, yeah, my point being Teru's luck = 0, Saki's luck = 255.

All Teru wants is to be able to throw a riichi stick out and tsumo on a pinfu.

Teru isn't just not relying on luck (like Nodoka), she really doesn't have one.

Thing is how to fit "Yata no Kagami" in there, if 2ch interpreted the last episode of the anime correctly?
And when Teru is usually getting shitty hands, how come Saki remembers playing her very afraid? Could be Teru close to Kokushi anytime and Saki not being able to 'read' it.
Also I wouldn't say Saki is about maximum luck, she only learned (induced by her sister) to feel the Rinshan and what tiles there are, so she can adjust her hand according to it.

What I've been thinking about Saki-Teru is:
Saki learned to play +-0 for the reasons we know, but unknowingly humiliated Teru deeply, because she was an ambitious Mahjong player and trained hard for it. Same as Nodoka, she hated that Saki did much more difficult thing than winning over her.

Maybe Teru isn’t the strongest player in her team. I think Oohoshi Awai, the first year girl (which means she just joined the team this year) seems to be the best player. If I don’t mistake, she’s fifth player like Saki too? And if Saki defeat her, Teru may accept her

(I think the situation in the team is like this: Saki = Awai (the new star) and Teru = Nodaka(Champion)

Look like Jindai (another monster) is the 3th player before Hatsumi (4th) and, Kasumi (5th) (The last Ep of the anime also show Saki walked into the same room as Kasumi) So, Hisa vs Jindai.

I'm not sure who will play with Saki. It can be Nelly or Che Myong Fa

And.......I like new Pro majong player (Kokaji Sukoya) ^^

Thanks. So Hisa and co are in the worst possible block, with 2 tough schools and Tsuruga will come later eh.

It looks like another unseeded team will take out the 4th ranked team, since they will be taking out Eisui before the final four.

Those ideas you and peanuts have are interesting. I was wondering why Teru denies Saki so much, when she was imaged beautifully as a caring sister on Saki's flashbacks.

EDIT: I'm not sure if this was already answered before, and I haven't read anything about it either. I just want to know how Hisa had a surname change from Ueno to Takei. Since Hisa is already in highschool, I would not be surprised if its because of marriage, but most probably because of adoption or parent divorce.

Basically, Kiyosumi's first match will be on the third day, so Hisa allows everyone to let loose a little till then.

Saki borrowed Mako's skirt for the opening ceremony, since she nearly didn't wore her own there. And it slipped while she was taking it off to return it back to her.

And we have the two announcers + Tsuruga's comments on it. In an earlier chapter, we learned that the "pro-mahjong announcer" was once the national high champion. Doesn't look like it though.

And we have all the little activities going on till the third day. Kiyosumi wakes up, Saki basically declares "If anyone is blocking my way to play against my sis, I'll beat them all!".

After all this build up of Saki wanting to reconcile with her sister... I can't help but feel that when we find out the actual reason for the estrangement, it's just not going to be as epic as it probably should be. Who knows. *sigh*
