why would you be worried?
if you've read the manga, with the exception of maybe a few bits and pieces of season 1, and like...the first 3-4 episodes of season 2, the Ikkitousen anime have never followed the manga anyway.

so any notion of anime original or filler material or some such is a pretty moot point.
if you liked the anime to date, anime-original material is pretty much all you've been getting. the only difference is Great Guardians doesn't sound like they're even going to bother pretending they might.

Well Great Guardians seems to have the same director as Dragon Destiny, so I don't expect something too radically different.

Well, Dragon Destiny basically used scenes from the manga, though created their own turn of events for the end of the story. & of course it was thee manga material scenes for me that were the best in DD.

& yeah i've heard that both have the same director, so i'm not at all worried.

Well, seems I'm speeding right along in this franchise, just finished Dragon Destiny, overall a more serious tone then the first series. More Focus on Kanu and her school. Having seen both Koi Hime Musou series, It is interesting to see this shows take on those same characters. The OVAs were also hilarious, onward to Great Guardians I go, And then hopefully I'll be done just in time for the newest season to start.

Ikkitousen GG is more of a fanservice series, though there it has quite a unique twist in the end.

I just finished watching DD. Gotta say it was alot better than the first season.

^ The fanservice or story was better than the original? Let's be honest here, it really doesn't have a story. I'm not sure people actually watch Ikkitousen for story. lawl. At least GG left me hating the series altogether. The first was the only commendable arc (if you can call it that) of the three seasons.

to be Honest I'm big fans of DD storyline, its good for Battle anime level.

and yeah I'm watch it for story, but never watch GG because I'm afraid it'll crush my expectation. but XX seemed to pick up again, will watch it after BD/DVD released, don't get me wrong
But the production value seems only can be judged fairly on 16:9 version, just compare 4:3 version of DD to 16:9 version, hell its looks like heaven and earth.

So far, it's very exciting. I haven't finished it yet because I want to enjoy it and taste it as long as I can. I just love it. Ikkitousen is exciting.
