I constantly try to expose myself to bands I'm not familiar with (and on that note, thanks to Sorrow-K for his post which gave me a few bands to check out), and I don't really have a genre tendency. When I latch on to something musically, it is generally as specific as a handful of songs of the same mood.

If we're basing it off of what I have the most of on my hard-drive, then the answer is quite clearly VGM. Fully 40% of my music is VGM, reaching as far back as 1983, up to the present day.

Classical Orchestra.

...I also like more modern types and styles of music. I'm rather fond of the heavy metal remake of Ode to Joy.

...I also like Alternate and Rock. I'm indiscriminately a fan of either J-rock or more 'westernized' rock.

Popular genre tends to get a bad rap most of the time. But hey, why be bothered by what other people's generalization? Music is music, just go with what you like and dont give a rat ass bout the stereotype around it.

I listen to all sorts of musics, depends what i happened across on the radio or the internet most of the time. Genre be damned.

Though jazz and rock tends to dominate my playlist throughout the years.

That's what I've been listening to for the past 5 years.

Currently my genres of interest are:

Nu Jazz (Jazz with electronic and other influences)
Bossa Nova
Traditional Pop

I used to be heavily into, and still am but at a lesser level:
Electronic Music (mainly Trance, House and Ambient/Chillout)
Anime OP/EDs and OSTs
Asian Pop (J-Pop, C-Pop, etc.)

No longer into:
North American Pop Music
