Actually it's the other way around. Since Mai Hime Destiny was featured before Mai Otome S.ifr, some of the characters from Destiny were used in Mai Otome S.ifr, Mayo Kagura and Shion Tennouji

Mai Hime Destiny - 2007
Mai Otome S.ifr - First episode premiered February 22, 2008
