Man, I can't thank you translators enough. This is an incredibly massive undertaking, and I have absolutely no clue what motivates you guys other than sheer altruism. Bravo!

Though I haven't read any of the novels of Bakemonogatari yet, I'm currently in the process of learning Japanese so that I'll, hopefully, be able to read light novels like Baky in the next 2 or 3 years.

Interesting!

The only thing that really stood out to me was your use of "rune" where it should be "ruin" (and a quick glance at chapter 5 shows that error there as well.)

Thank you so much for Chapter 6!
-- I'm a major Koyomi-Shinobu fan, so finally getting to read how they met and what happened between them is an incredible treat.

I haven't really been happy with any of the professional translations of Nisio's books; they just didn't sound like him. The writing style was all wrong, or just really uneven, with lots of awkward, clunky phrases.
I wanted to see if I could do better.
Since I wanted to capture Nisio's style, I was more faithful to that and his intentions than the literal word. This probably makes it read very differently than a more typical approach; I replaced a lot of jokes, for instance. Feel free to roast me for that if you think it doesn't work.
I put my version of Hitagi Crab up here.

Thanks omimon!

The meeting and dialogue between the two was hilarious, I didn't want it to end! Ah, cut off just when it got even more interesting.

After a brief conversation with konart we have concluded that when Tsubasa and Araragi were talking about Russian, Nision made a mistake with translating スパシーボ as great. For the people who can read katakana, you'll know that the word is pronounced as Supashiibo. However, it seems that according to konart, the closest word to Supashiibo in Russian is Spasibo or Спасибо. The word in fact means thank you. Now in the book Tsubasa used 素晴らしい which means great, wonderful. In the end it seems that there is no way these two words can connect. So for the people who knows Russian and is confused, blame Nisio.

Hi guys, I am new

I am self-taught on Japanese, but after having read the original sentence I dare to say you mistranslated it

Hanekawa said that she didn't know Spanish very well, she did know "just about everyday conversation".

To that Araragi replied "spasibo", and Hanekawa retorted that it didn't mean "amazing" like Araragi meant to say.

(Anyway Omimon, thanks for the translation )

Although this may have created a great impression of me, the truth is that I can read Japanese books only after passing them through an OCR program, because I don't know kanji very well, and it takes a lot searching them by radical

By the way, it's not related to Kizu but I found a joke that was lost in translation. In the second chapter of Bakemonogatari vol. 1, Araragi is discussing with Hanekawa about the name Hitagi. Hanekawa said that it was a word related to public works.

"Public works" is written 土木 (soil + tree)

In kanji "Hitagi" would be written 肥田木 (manure + rice field + tree)

Hitagi's name though is written in hiragana as ひたぎ, hence it has no meaning

This time the translation of Kizumonogatari comes from me. I PMed omimon, and he has already checked it, so there should be at least some kind of consistency.

Without further ado, here is chapter 8.

Spoiler for spoiler:

Awesome dude, thanks a lot.

The fight was rather good, I think. I mean, it wasn't anything over the top, nor was it a display of techniques, or tactics. But, for Araragi, I guess that was okay.

Anyway, I liked the chapter, but I'm urging for more Kiss-Shot. She's barely done anything yet, and I'm reading this precisely because I want to know more about her!

Thanks so much!!!

"For what reason should our daily life be turned into an anime!" - lol

I'd like to see what role Hanekawa will play in saving Araragi's life, she's an interesting character.
