Mediaplayer

Is there anyone who is still using mediaplayer 9?
I just format my computer, and installed the usual codecs back to my pc.
But the problem is that media will run the anime but don't play it.
I just can't seem to configure what the problem is.

And also, if I download vlc player and the neccesary codecs while I'm already using media. Will that screw up the process or how the players will work?

My suggestion is to use Media Player Classic (2000/XP or 98/SE).

If you really want to make Windows Media Player 9 work, then you should follow these directions:

"9 timeout of 10, this is a codec problem. Very easy to fix.

i) Download ffdshow 2004-07-25
ii) Remove all previously installed codecs you have, and I mean all.
iii) Install ffdshow.

Just in case it wasn't clear, uninstall all previously installed codecs, they only clash and interfere with each other. You only need ffdshow.

If you don't like the idea of removing all your old codecs, then don't, you may be able to resolve the problem by just updating or installing to the latest ffdshow codec (but the general consensus is to just have the one codec installed, there will be less problems that way).

Look at the stickies in the Playback Help forum to find the latest version of ffdshow (see this thread)."

However, if you do decide on VLC Player, it is ready to go out of the box. You don't need to install any codecs. Furthermore, it is completely independent of anyother player.

I would go with the ffdshow 2004-08-28 since it's more stable with MediaPlayer9 and 10 and supports the latest xvid.

I would also recommend not using MP9/10 since it's more CPU/memory intensive
