The updated arcade version has officially been announced. It's called "BlazBlue Continuum Shift II."

http://www.arcsystemworks.jp/index.cgi?eid=317

Yes, they did in fact call it CS2.

And as we know, it will be released as a free patch for the console version. However, I wouldn't rule out them making us pay for the ability to play as the console characters (Mu, Makoto, Valk, Platinum) in arcade mode or for new challenges to go with the balance changes.

What are the changes slated for this version? I know that the characters are getting a rebalance as well as Mu, Makoto, Valkenhayn and Platinum will be added to the arcade build, but is there anything else for the console version or is that it?

We don't know. Sorry. All we know is that there will be a balance patch, likely coinciding with the release of BBCS2 to arcades.

I can see it now, the update is patched on the release of Diablo 3!. Seriously the western release being on the same time as starcraft 2 pretty much was a big mistake. There are some titles you need to avoid... my local ranbats run CS for the first time and had less entries than the previous months CT because most ppl are addicted to SC2.

I really don't see how SC2 is competition for BBCS. They're totally different genres of games.

now if they decided to sell BB3 or w/e on the release of SSFV, or some other huge fighting game series, then I'd think it was a stupid idea.

Genre doesn't matter when your up against one of the biggest game releases of the year, people only have so much time/money and will usually go with the bigger release if their restricted to one.

Pitting low key franchises against high end franchises is just a bad idea in general, be it movies/games/books/etc... another recent example is opening week scott pligrim vs expendables - scott pligrim is overall the better movie review wise but expendables has movie star power and has sold >>>>> then scott pligrim.

would scott pilgrim have done better if it didn't come out at that time? i mean, the premise has a very narrow audience. plus no one really likes Michael Cera.

The most star-studded movie this Summer and the housewife's Twilight on a month most people are going back to school?

Yeah, it was a little untimely.

The Scott Pilgrim game is still fantastic though. So everything SP wise is awesome, lucky us.

The majority of people I know IRL and on forums who play SFIV or BB have SC2.. I've run into 3 people in 1v1 ranked matches in SC who I've played SF against... it doesn't matter if it's a different genre, time is finite. Releasing an update of a fighting game in the same week as one of the most wanted games of the last decade is silly to say the least. AkySys should've pushed for same as JPN release...

Platinum was officially unveiled at the AM Show.

BBCS2 will also be the first game to use Taito's new "NESiCA X Live" system, which is basically digital distribution for arcade games. It will also use this system to deliver periodic balance updates to the game (meaning there will be more than one rebalance). In addition it will have the features of Taito's already existing "NESiCA" card-based service which allows for online ranking by use of cards linked to personal data stored on an online server.

It looks like she uses Muchourin in combination with her Heart Staff... I don't know why I didn't see that one coming.
