A lot of the ocean is just gone - where to we shall probably never know, but there are precedents in fiction for the Earth to be plundered for its water.
Regarding the map, Rio says that it only included places you could get to on foot, but given that America is on there, the ancient land bridge from what is now Russia to Alaska must be open again. There's also land to the west of south America. So, by looking at a bathymetric map, that means sea levels have dropped at least 2,000 metres / 6,500 feet. The surface area of the oceans would be very much reduced if that were the case, with catastrophic effects on the global water cycle. That would lead to the collapse of whole ecosystems and to desertification on a massive scale, which would in turn cause even more disruption to the water cycle. It all seems horribly consistent, and indeed leads to conclusion that there is no long-term hope for humanity. "Cute girls doing cute things", indeed

Perhaps the ocean water is trapped in the polar ice caps, and Japan is one of the few places that's still warm enough for people to live. |

Episode 13 was overall a wonderful reminder of why I loved this series.
I always think the show had more potential than it achieved, and had they made it a two cour show, they could have done a lot more with the setting and its history. That said, if despite the apparent demise of the 'Anime no Chikara' franchise, they were to make a second series with Rio & co searching for 'the land with oceans reborn, and new life springing from it' I'd certainly want to watch that. |

Hm... I feel strangely displeased that the second drama cd has not been put up any where for download. I am starting to suspect that it won't get translated by the DVD company and so I want to translate it.

I honestly believe only hard core fans and aficionados would go to the trouble of popping in a cd/dvd, listen, read it as it's being played and genuinely enjoy it. The average fan would be 'nice but I don't quite get what the fuss is about' and the fact there are no visuals to go along with it for them.
