Besides, Akira was already on top of him before he could have realized what was going on so it would have been very rude to refuse in that position.

But then, he would be thought of as a sexual pervert for looking at Akira completely naked when she entered o.o He was trapped!

I'm just surprised to see an anime actually do stuff like this. Not many eroge adaptations carry over the Ero when it goes to anime.

Well, to be clear, some of the ero content in the anime wasn't even in the game to begin with, and what ero content there was in the game was spread over a much longer story. But they have to do something to differentiate themselves from all the other anime out there, so it's good to be unique in that sense. Notice how much more discussion this series has gotten than other eroge-based anime in recent memory.

I meant in a more broad sense. I wasn't talking about the events themselves. I was merely saying that it's refreshing to see an eroge adaptation that actually has ero scenes in it. Like you said, it makes it unique considering that most other eroge adaptations are rather tame (Which I find rather ironic. I know about network restrictions. Still funny though).

Well to tell you the truth... most of those other "eroge adaption" anime were "clean" because they usually were tied in with some sort of "All ages" version being released soon (PS2,ect.) of said eroge.

Yosuga no Sora is a little different though, there hasn't been any announcement of an "All ages" version of the eroge (correct me if I'm wrong) so they can go "all out" with the content but as relentlessflame said "some of the ero content in the anime wasn't even in the game to begin with" so most likely the added ero is just a way to "hook" an audience.

So sora is the one they saved for last like Nagisa in Clannad first season. Hope it will be a good arc in this show.

It's definitely to hook the audience. The pre-order sales jumped after the sex scene after all (if what was posted was true).

If only they kept the sex in the other series where it makes more of a difference. But the examples I am thinking of, did have an all-ages release so that does make logical sense.

A surprising series. I must say I love Akira. There's something about those girls who act super-cheerful to hide their pain that gets to me. And both her genuinely happy moments and her sad moments were great. I never expected her to be so shy though.

Err... Why are you making such assumptions?
Although it is true the erotic aspect was kept to hook a certain public, it has nothing to do with the fact it doesn't have an all age release.

The fact there isn't an all age version of an eroge doesn't mean they can't avoid using that kind of content. In fact, the vast majority of the ero galge are much more focused on the plot, to the point a chunk of the ero scenes are sometimes pulled without any proper development whatsoever.

When was she shy? I find Akira being the boldest female character so far, being able to pull off that stunt in the bathtub so quickly. But the part where she started letting tears run down her cheeks while she was performing does build up something, that we will defiantly see in the next episode.

Sorry, light sarcasm there. I thought it would be obvious enough just like that. Like calling Tsuda Kotomi of SYD prudish.

But most of those eroge use the "ero" quite well to show "development" between the protagonist and said girl. (a lot of eroge are just nukige though)

There's a big difference between just a "kiss" and finally "doing it" in an anime and it makes a bigger difference when it actually is shown and not left for people to wonder it they did it or not. (just look at the preorder sales of YnS )

In the end it's a matter of preference of which eroge company makes the ero work well in the plot in their games.

Actually, from what I've read on some blogs, plenty of those who pre-ordered for the YnS game actually returned the game itself after they got their pre-order bonus merchandise, such as posters, artbooks, wallscrolls, dakimakura, etc.. Maybe they heard rumours about "how bad the game itself was."

The amount of on-screen frolicking is at a higher level because of the following:
1) Airs late late at night
2) Airs on a premium channel rather than the "basic package" channels.

They are skating the R-15 levels with some clever camera angles and scene cuts but so it goes. What is a bit more damning of the series is that those scenes seem to be dominating thread conversation rather than whether the story is actually holding up as compelling.

So far, ... eh - visually and thematically "Key-ish" Light but holding off overall series judgement til I see the "main arc" (Yosuga no Sora).

I hate to say this but is Sora's arc is the only canon one? So far episode 5 is where second one left of. It is possible when Haruka heard both Kazuha and Akira had sex is where the story branched.

There isn't any one "canon end", VNs rarely work that way - the plot unfolds in various directions based on the player's choices, and neither direction is more or less "canon" than the next one. That said, usually it isn't too hard to discern which is the intended "main girl", whether by overall importance she plays in the storyline regardless of path, her path being the most compelling and well developed one, her path being the most 'plot relevant' one, having her name in the title, and many other similar reasons and any combination of those. Still, that doesn't affect how "canon" said route would be in comparison to the rest. They all happened, which makes them all canon in this instance. So ...yeah. Is Sora's route canon ? Yes. As is Kazuha's, Akira's, etc.

And Haru didn't "hear Kazuha and Akira having sex", that was his wild imagination at work

I think part of the problem is the new story style. I don't hate it, by any means, and I love Amagami, which follows a similar style, but it still damages the plot. In the more typical style, you either had a work follow one heroine's story and leave most of the other girls' routes alone so as not to interfere (rare to nonexistent in my experience), or they followed one girl's story and yet tried to shove all the other girls' stories in as well with a final rejection, hesitation, or other interference (or the possibility of a harem like with Sia in Shuffle). In either case you have one long plot line, with steady development.

In Amagami, they keep the stories short, but they treat each girl's story separately, so that in each 4-ep set you have a perfectly linear style. If I understand right, this one isn't trying to squeeze the girls together OR separate each girl into an individual section, but instead shows a mixture of universal eps and eps that lead from them down different paths, mixing things up. There's also the fact that they compressed the stories even more than Amagami, and then decided to compress them yet further to have room for ero scenes. As a result, things are a little rushed and quite confusing. It means that if you're just interested in one girl's story route you have to watch the first couple eps and certain eps later in the show, jumping around a bit, rather than just starting at ep 5 or 13 or something.

Also, the ero is a little excessive. Even if they're doing two or three eps per girl, it shouldn't be jumping into the erotic stuff too soon or it makes the girls look easy/loose, like they'd jump into bed with anyone who asked them out. If you make the girls look cheap, then you take away alot of the value and meaning of their romance.

The girls don't seem "cheap" to me, they seem passionate. Seen from inside their own consciousness -- as opposed to from an external social viewpoint -- their passion makes sense to me. Even if it does seem to arise quickly, we have been shown some emotional background in each case.

And I feel that so far, this version of the omnibus format is working brilliantly. It does not try to slowly paint a picture of each character, but sketches her in with a few deft strokes. On the other hand, I find Amagami disappointingly both slow and unfocused: it uses too many strokes and the wrong ones, so I personally end up seeing a fuzzy caricature rather than an actual person.
