Umm...;;

Yumekui Merry is a Seinen manga... and action oriented. I have really high premise on it.

But honestly, my anticipation on Madoka Magica beats everything.

Ps. and, there is better list on ready;

Spoiler:

Starry Sky might be good. Definitely looking forward to Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa~~~ even though I won't be able to see it in theatres myself "Orz I might catch Kimi Ni Todoke 2, if I get around to watching the season.

Other than that, there aren't a lot of new series coming out that catch my attention. :/

Could there possibly be more TV series crammed into this season that have to do with some guy encountering a "mysterious girl" and getting dragged into her wacky adventures or whatever which possibly include getting thrust into an all girls school?

I guess if one really likes that sort of thing this season is going to be their personal heaven.

^ ... and that 'mysterious girl falling out of nowhere' format is one of the genre that has much better potential to be good than any others reused elements, if you don't know.

What I'm thinking on top is TTGL and Bakemonogatari.

Okay.....why is that in your opinion? Gotta admit I'm kind of curious enough to ask for further detail.

Hourou Musuko is totally different though. I'll recommend it you.

You'd almost think that guys who grow up to make anime spent their highschool years going "man it'd be cool to meet a mysterious girl from another reality, not like these snobby cows who just laugh at me and call me kimi-ota." But of course that would be unfair.

Back on topic, the only Winter offering that really grabs me is Hourou Musuko. I think this show has the potential to be something really special (which may just mean I'm setting myself up for massive disappointment, but we'll see). Other than that I might check out Gosick - the setting sounds interesting, and Sherlock Holmes meets EGL costume porn can't be all bad.

Because it's an easy to adapt introduction.

I'll probably pick up:

Gosick -- gothic lolita detective sounds interesting...
Is This a Zombie? -- can't pass up a mahou shoujo series
Remember my Love (Craft Sensei) -- any ode to Lovecraft is worth a view
Fractale -- looks Matrix-y

Yeah, I'll take back what I said about Yumekui Merry ... but I was basing my initial "Expectations" (see the thread title?) --> ON the picture and synopsis provided and you have to admit that "synopsis" is an insta-kill for any viewer whose response is "What???? AGAIN?????!"

A tease should invite further research - the only reason I looked further is that I ruffled some feathers by initially writing it off as a show that appeared to designed for little boys (rather than late teen + 20-somethings) and that I'd seen 100 versions of already.

And now that I've taken the time, it does look like its at least worth a probationary look-see. I tend to like a series that "subverts the paradigm" it that is what this does. That said, it doesn't really change my planned "look see" list:

Kimi ni Todoke - season 2
I enjoy the series though I sometimes want to strangle the characters - so it goes.

Wandering Son
*might* be interesting if only because it involves two "odd characters" who might naturally connect.

Merry Dream Eater
(see above)

Starry Sky
Hm... something actually out of the usual just based on gender ratio. It isn't clear whether it branches more toward shoujo or seinen from the wiki writeups.

Haiyoru! Nyarlko: Remember My Love (Craft-sensei)
ROFL... okay, anything with Lovecraftian elements, romance, and "-ko"ified HAS to be checked out by order of Chibi-Cthulhu.

Unfortunately Production I.G. really seems to have scaled back their output of late. Only one series and it's a sequel, of a manga adaptation at that. It's a reflection of economic times I know, but I hope it doesn't reflect bigger financial problems at the studio. They're consistently one of the few studios that generate really creative and original material and it's a loss to the industry when that isn't happening.

Sounds like someone is forgetting about the Eden of the East films, which were released around the same time Kimi ni Todoke first season was airing.

Sure it's a shame we're not getting much from them as of late, though if that means more focus on Kimi ni Todoke, then i'm all for that. It's easily one of the best shoujo adaptations i've seen in a long time.

I didn't forget about EotE - but that was a theatrical release in 2010, not a TV. For that matter they also released Bungako Shoujo in theatres this May. That's well and good, but one TV series over the course of the year is a hugely diminished output.

Kimi ni Todoke is fine, but I think it represents a very safe choice by I.G. standards. It saddens me to think, but EotE might very well be the last "risky" i.e. original - show they're willing to produce. Sure hope I'm wrong, especially because it was far from their best effort.

How could the list forgot Level E? I'm seriously anticipating another Yoshihiro Togashi's works which is well known for its well written story and interesting characters, and i believe Level E is no exception either. Hopefully it will delivers the same excitement and enjoyment like his previous 2 highly successful titles.
