The Kirino hate is strong in this episode, the pantsu scene was rage inducing.

Seriously didn't notice the hints about Kuroneko being poor until this episode I feel sympathy for her now, but Manami is still my favorite.

Stupid Kyou, can't he just go to the living room or Manami's house to study in peace?

Also, what kind of Eroge has only 2 routes?

Two major heroines with multiple routes. And... the sort of games that are strongly centered around a specific fetish, like this one. Also remakes of older games, which this appeared to be. These sorts of games may also have some secondary heroines with minor routes.

...for whatever it's worth.

Minor nitpick: Why does Kyousuke call Kuroneko? He is just secondary cast in this glorious yuri show!
He should not interfere with the good ending! But maybe its going the KirinoxAyase route. I should rewatch ep5 for more hints!

Yeh he could but Kirino should be consideraive too, it is his room and he wants to be able to relex there. Would you be pleased if somoene would be screaming behind your wall?
She could also go somewhere else to play and shout.

Everything is always done to please her, Kyou had lost his face many times for her yet she can't even be quiet!

I'm not Kirino's hater nor Kyou's lover, but selfish statements like that really piss me off.

KYOU HAD RIGHT TO BE ANGRY!

If she is going to have her deredere moment in the show at all, it probably won't be until the very end (just like the game they showed).
So does she even warrant being called a tsundere then? I mean, if she's going to be tsuntsun all. the. time, then she's not really a tsundere then, is she?

Anyway, I thank you for the info and correction on who wrote this episode. However, it was not an "easy" opportunity. It's a good opportunity that was earned through anything but an easy route. It was an excellent and carefully constructed setup; providing a creative catalyst for possible character development on Kirino's part.

The fact that they still haven't shown Kirino's deredere side after all this setup is the punchline. You just didn't find it funny. I did.
Wait now, I wasn't saying that this episode was about making a joke. I said that it's the drama equivalent of having a great setup, and then failing to deliver a good punchline.

In other words, the plot of the first half of this episode presented a good opportunity to present Kirino in a more positive light, but the second half of this episode totally failed to take advantage of that opportunity... similar to a joke with a perfect setup but no good punchline, but not an actual joke.

There's no humor in that, just a missed opportunity.

Unless you think that what we're watching here constitutes good handling and character development of a tsundere character. Do you? And if so, why?

Just curious.

I mean, there's usually a certain degree of looseness and implicit relaxation within a nuclear family. This is somebody you grew up in the same home with, see on a daily basis for your entire life up until now, and you get totally embarrassed over him seeing a pair of your underwear that you accidentally dropped on the floor?

He's obviously only trying to help her, and it's not like he's some stranger or a classmate visiting that she barely knows.
You're looking too deep into this. Panties are serious business in anime. Little sisters in anime react the same way all the time, albeit a lot less violently (they usually just blush and yell "onii-chan no baaakaaa!").

Oh except for that time when she was watching Meruru. If you're having fun, look like you're having fun, dammit. Just that small smile wont do.
Kuroneko's little sister was just adorable! Her voice was a bit peculiar but I thought it sounded cute. If Kirino ever sees her, she'll soak her panties and will want to take her home right away.

As for looking like she's having fun: Everyone has a different way to express emotions. She's just not as demonstrative as Kirino (who's quite extreme). Some people like me keep everything bottled up and only show a little on the surface. It actually caused me a few trouble... people think I'm heartless because I never cry, even at funerals.

The eroge that Kirino was playing parallels the characters in the show, the obvious Rinko being Kirino, the Oni-chan is Kyousuke and the other girl being Kuroneko, well more so if she wasn't such a poser around everyone else.

The scenarios are almost like the series itself is already spoiling the upcoming interactions. Kinda like a no matter what Kyousuke is gonna be forced to take the "Rinko Route".

Ah damn, Kyousuke was about to ask Kuroneko if she wanted to go to that Maschera thing together just when that obnoxious Kirino had to interrupt it. :/

Since when was intent of portrayal a justification for anything? It is simply not good writing to have a character actually take a step backwards in character development 9 episodes into a series. It's simply ridiculous.

The writing of the story is almost objectively bad at this point.

Thank you Ore no Imouto.

Now I know it's not that I hate Kirino, it's that I can't stand her. I'm actually disturbed by her. I have a friend who acts the same way somewhat, with the love for 2d and all that. While we're cool about just hanging out and doing whatever, if that issue comes up I flat out tell him that shit is fucking disturbing, and that I wait for the day when he'll look back and acknowledge it himself. Watching Kirino play the game the way she did, to the point where she took a shower before getting ready to fuck her virtual little sister made me cringe so hard that my brain injured itself just trying to erase the notion of her existence. That's NOT normal. I don't care if you've got excellent grades and a great modeling career, you are all kinds of fucked up and missing some shit in your head to act like that. Forget the 'dere' moment, that's just being squeezed as a plot device and novelty, someone slap this bitch and fix her up. Her dad is right. Ugh.

The irony to me is astounding because this episode made me more interested in everyone else but Kirino. How is that possible? Kuroneko is slightly poor, has younger (adorable) siblings, can sew, cook, and apparently has a thing for Kyosuke? Awesome. Saori is a rich girl (cliche, sure), but it still makes me interested to find out more about her. Even Ayase, who I dislike, gets shown working (something I don't remember seeing with Kirino as of yet, though I may be wrong), thinking of Kirino.

What do we get of Kirino? Oh the harsh, harsh troubles of WAITING FOR YOUR PORN GAME TO INSTALL. The poor thing.

This is a first for sure. Somehow I'm still watching a show where everyone but the character I'm supposed to care for is more interesting and worthwhile in caring for. Isn't that something~

You see it my way entirely I saw Rinko act exactly like Kirino, and that Kirino was just yelling at her alternative self, while we actually saw the adorable side of Kuroneko resembling the other girl. But Kyousuke is not forced to take the Kirino route, since he has only 1 more life counseling left to do before he can finally cut ties with Kirino, and chase after someone else.

You see that's the kicker, you know that the "final" session is gonna be a whopper. Kyousuke is gonna be forced, mark my words

Hah, Kiirino, seems to have gotten so excited she needs to take a shower. Though it seems to disturb me that she's caring more about her eroge than other people which comes off as a big - that is even worse than her behavior towards others.

The lampshading is mildly funny, though a bit too blatant and unfortunately, nothing much really came out of it yet. But at least she learns that could be really annoying so it may take another episode to sink in. Hopefully it won't be glossed over.

I also must at Kuroneko referring to herself as a fallen angel, and also how different her RL personality is. Overall, there's just not much to say about the episode, and I found myself bored except for the few notable moments I pointed out; actually the past few episodes don't seem as interesting as the first couple. The main thing is that I really don't see how they'll reach any kind of meaningful conclusion at the current pace (this is fillerish at this critical juncture?); on the other hand having another season wouldn't be a bad thing either. 6/10

Well, she has been playing eroge for mostly all her life... So it would be understandable about that..

Hardly. Kirino isn't just any otaku shut-in (though she is definitely written like one). She has many other interests and hobbies, and interaction with others, or at least the show insists on telling us. It's one thing to be highly obsessed with her hobby, but her behavior here is clearly hurting her other life activities.

Now, it's another thing if they're warning us about the dangers of game addiction. I mean we've all had engrossing games that suck away our time completely or even some shitty ones but I'm just starting to get the feelings that even "I like you as much as my eroge" may be false and this is more chronic than we had thought.

Which would be a good thing for the show to get into-- if Kyousuke encouraging Kirino has become a bad thing, then you'd really have a conflict to deal with. But I'm skeptical of the writers' skill atm.

For me, it was just a VA thing, as she had recently played an angel in another anime, lol.

How has Kirino taken a step backwards? I really don't see how you came to that conclusion. It's fairly obvious that the author purposely made Kirino the way she is especially if that person goes as far as having the very same character complain about another character in the same fashion as the audience. It's clever and hilarious if you ask me, it had me laughing. If you didn't get a kick out of it, then I'm sorry. There's simply nothing that can be done if you don't enjoy it or missed out on the hilarity.

"Almost objectively bad?" You might as well just express it as objectively bad from your point of view, even if you can't claim it as such. The writing is just fine, but you don't seem to want to change your opinion after this last episode did such a wonderful job at setting up some potential development.

The final scene between Kirino and Kyousuke was just the icing on the cake. Kirino even used the very same lines from the eroge but at the same time, made it more obvious that her feelings for Kyousuke are far different from her actions. The look on Kirino's face when Kyousuke came out of the shower was worth more than a thousand words. This was definitely one of, if not, the best episode yet. Especially considering the look into Kuroneko and Saori's lives. This show has gotten slightly more interesting now

Thank you for sharing this pic, I think this was a pretty significant moment for Kirino's development. This was the first time I've seen Kirino look at Kyousuke that way, unless I'm mistaken.

We must be watching a different show. Ignoring the yuri comment as there is none. If anyone is secondary cast it's Ayase as she's just friend fodder...

Not sure why everyone is so surprised at Kirino's actions. She's been that way from the start and hasn't shown any signs in changing. She makes my younger sister look like a freaking angel. Maybe we'll get one of them life changing moments in the last episode. Now that would be as funny as I thought her reactions to the eroge she was playing were...

Kyousuke, well he's acting the way they want him to act. I was amazed he finally did something about her eroge moans, but then backed down at the end like a defeated princess, er brother...

For whatever it's worth I've seen similar stuff happen in real life between a friend and his little sister, she said something like "you perv,I bet that if it hadn't been my panties you wouldn't have noticed i'd dropped something"
