I'm also amused, while looking at it longer, I came up with two possibilities (not to say that there aren't more, but just two that I came up with): the young woman with the largest and smallest chests, the fact that #1-Hina-tan still managed to hold on to almost double the amount of votes of #2-Athena, significantly downgraded her lead, but she's still clearly the fan favorite.

Somehow I doubt if the Hayate movie will be anything manga-related. Maybe they'll animate some other story that Hata hasn't put in the manga yet?

I dunno, seeing as how successful the Haruhi movie was (granted it was Haruhi, but still), I could see them doing End of the World in movie form. Of course, they'd have to have a season between now and then to bridge the story gap first, but if they've just announced it then there's still plenty of time.

Although.. given that I still haven't seen any clue that another season is going to be animated..

Maybe animate the time between when Hayate was driven out of the RG and the Athens portion of the story? We didn't really get a lot of story for that section, maybe explain how Machina was 'born'?

Maa, after all the misery the author put the Hina-shippers through in the past year, and after all the Athena pushing up to her victory in the Royal Garden arc, Hina still remains 2:1 favorite with the fans.

Well, Athena rising to second place is the major change of this year, so it's justified.

I was expecting her to win, but not to 2:1 second place, to be honest. The last year was REALLY hard on her, storywise, and Athena is a strong contender.

Athena has assumed the lead of the "anything but Hina" faction and doubled her vote count, since poor Maria was effectively ignored by the Hata, she had next to no scenes at all, and even less meaningful ones. Nagi remained third with almost the same number of votes, but it seems that she'll finally get a proper arc of her own. Maybe she'll be able to extend her popularity base with that.

I think neither Hina-tan or Athena is Hata's favorite character. He said he preferred the more character-centered chapters, I think.
I'd guess Nagi probably is (which might speak a little for Athena, but only as a storyline character), or maybe Izumi, Miki or Ayumu (they've been given enjoyable character traits).
Athena's only been given two major arcs to focus in, and those weren't even hers, those were clearly Hayate-centric arcs.
Hinagiku is probably only the excutives favorite characters, not Hata's, you can actually tell when the execs told Hata to put her in. >.<

I'd prefer them to animate the EotW arc first before the Greek Arc. Hayate and Athena's story in the EotW arc was the reason that makes their re-encounter so exciting to see. The Greece Arc focuses on solving their misunderstanding, Athena's problem with Midas, and clarifying their feelings, so I think their background story is needed to give insights in those area.

And, it would help justified why Hayate said he loves Athena to the anime-only fans. That's important, right?
