I'm mesmerized by the artwork o this manga. The backstory of the characters are pretty in depth and the cast is likeable so far.
I'm having high expectations for this 1....

so his best friend is a cutter and thats why he wears long sleeves. Toru's uncanny insight is rather interesting, of course not surprising considering his person motto "minimal exposure", so therefore he has good people observational skills.

Going to back to Hijiri's advice:

Spoiler for end of ch6:

I think that quote has several meanings. First, it's obviously foreshadowing. Second, I think Hijiri was talking about Toru. Remember the beginning of chapter 5? Koyuki had to listen to Hijiri's story in exchange for advice on how to get closer to Toru. That was his advice.

In my opinion, it fits. Even though Hijiri is lot more cheerful than he was before, Toru is the exact same. He's still concerned about "minimal exposure," even when he has friends that don't discriminate him for being an Iris Zero. He hasn't recovered from the bullying he got as a kid for being an Iris Zero.

At this rate, I'm about to dub Toru as either L, Lelouch, or Kira... even though many would say that having an Iris is a "blessing", it seems to me that having an Iris is more of a "curse"

Spoiler for 5&6:

It is just a matter of time for some iris character to say something like "You have better eye than me. Even in this confusion, your eye is still as clear as crystal" to Toru.

I was thinking the so-called "powers" were some kind of over-the-top city-destroying type(like Index), but after reading the first chapter and seeing the powers were far less intimidating than I thought, I got interested in it. It was pretty good. The Asahi/Shino arcs were great, with enough depth and story to really bring out those characters. I liked the Koyuki one too, even if it ended rather lame(with Toru saving the day, despite his motto). I totally CRINGED when Shino saw all of those butterflies on that girl he liked. I shall be keeping my eye on this one =03.

If Toru didn't save Koyuki, he would get even more attention as the guy who corrupted Koyuki and eloped with her.

Even if Toru is the hero, it doesn't mean he helps out because he deeply cares about anyone. All of the problems he solved fell in line with his minimal exposure policy.

basically, he's more of an anti-hero whose overall goal just happens to coincide with the others' objectives as well... that, and he's a hell of an observer (then again, "background" characters tend to be the best observers)

For now, anyway. If Koyuki tries hard enough, I'm sure Toru will get over his childhood trauma. At least with Hijiri's advice she has some idea that Toru still isn't over his past.

On the plus side: only two more chapters to go for this volume to be fully translated

the bad news: we'll have to wait till April after that for more of this series...

Don't know where April came from. The next volume will be coming out January 22 according to the author's blog.

My bad; April was when 2 was released

still, it's good to hear that we've less than a month for the next tank to come out... a very big plus

Anyway, cute chapter. I like how the mangaka can give his characters charm without having to resort to ecchi. Koyuki is just adorable.

Not really, if you've read/watched enough manga or anime you will know that that is a rather cliche setting.
"Idol of the school" pops it's head up more than I can count.
And most of the time it's the complete chump or nobody that gets involved with them.
Altho I guess people in western culture, people will always find it somewhat hard to get their heads around it, I still do even tho I've it countless times.

But not to say I don't like it, it can be rather amusing at times but I think it would be a good chance for some nice melodrama/drama here
