You'd think that the show was made by someone who thought, hmm, LOLIS SHOULD GET THE GUY IN THE END! F**K ALL THOSE BIG BREASTED BIMBOS! That's why Sora got the most out of her story, and Nao got viewed as a rapist, got interupted mid-coitum (during the etc etc etc), and didn't get a proper love scene ending to her story, and Motoka being a bishonen shota lover.

Welcome, Nikanoru ... I also think that reading through the thread will be satisfactory ... and let's not forget the recent about our favorite wincest couple being dead or alive ... though I find it a moot point, since in both cases they are happy together ...

... poor Nao

Not really, since what mattered to them is eachother, and not a bunch of girls who were trying to break them apart

Aww that's kind of negative. Noa can't be a bad person if she just accepts them in the end, despite the taboo, and her feelings for Haru. And I think the others would too (Akira doesn't have it in her to hate them, surely). Maybe not Kozue, lol. But at least she said she wouldn't tell anyone.

Idunno, it just feels lonely. I like it better when they're all together, and happy. And definitely 100% surely not dead. :P

Anyway, I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere before, so stop me it has come up already, but... I was thinking the last time I watched the ending: what they end up on is a bunch of stairsteps leading out of the water, presumably going pretty far down judging from the... whatever the red gateway things are called, sticking out from the surface. Could it have been an implication that Sora used the stairsteps to simply climb out?

On a lighter note: is it just me or do we never once see Sora in her swimsuit in the actual anime? Kind of a tease since we see her in the extra's with her cute inflatable.

I'll try to read the whole thread, if I can find the time.. XD

This has not been mentioned before, and it raises the question that I have that I had not seen raised before either. At 15:43-15:47, there is not a pool of wet ground below Haru and Sora, rather there is a trail of it leading from the lake up the stairs and across the flat ground they are laying upon. Kinda like, if I may be so bold, as if someone had pulled them out of the water and brought them to the top of the first set of stairs from the lake. All this really shows is that they didn't 'mystically' appear on that staging area, but it's a point in the direction of the "alive" end.

IIRC, we do see her in her swimsuit in Episode 3, along Kazuha's path.

As expected, having sex scenes equals bad review ... I wish people at least tried to behave like adults ... occasionally.

While I do not agree with the review rating and some of the issues raised with the omnibus format (I'd give it something like a 7/10), if you actually read it apart from your immediate conclusion that criticisms about sex must mean that the reviewer hates it you'd notice that it's not trashing the mere fact of having sex, but how some of the sex scenes (especially at the 5 minute omakes that I never liked) felt unnecessary and just got in the way and further reduced the amount of time that could be spent fleshing out the story. Further compounded by the choice for omnibus.

I actually think the sex scenes in Sora's arc are well played with the story(Without biasness to Sora). It gives us more emotions and feeling of incest is very much "fleshed out". The ecchi scenes in other arcs are the ones that are unnecessary I think.. Though in Nao arc, the NTR feeling was delivered to Sora in those key ecchi scenes. So I can say that the ecchi scenes were a liability or an asset depending on the scenes.
@Ascaloth not going to argue with your post since I see your point. But I advice you to stay away with omnibus format animes. like Amagami, Amagami, and Amagami.

Kazuha's, Akira's, and arguably Nao's ending sex scene were all pretty unnecessary, I think. They felt kind of tacked on at the end of their arcs and not at all necessary to the plot. They were kind of cop-out scenes to show Haru won a "Good End" for their respective story route. Nao's flashback and the interrupted by Sora scene, as well as most of Sora's scenes, were much more integrated and I'd dare say necessary to their arcs.

As expected, talking smack about sex scenes equals bad reviewer ... I wish people at least tried to act their age ... occasionally.

Look, I understand I'm one of if not the most tl;dr reviewers in NHRV, but surely living enough years to be over-the-hill should have taught you the merit of taking the time and effort to read something in its entirety, as opposed to glancing at one sentence and proceeding to knee-jerk a reaction?

Really, it's a shame that folks several years your junior exhibit better reading comprehension skills than you do.

Well, what I meant was that if you consider the submerged stairs that can be used to climb out of the water, Sora pulling them both out seems much less farfetched than it would've been if she would have had to swim up. I was just wondering if it was shown this way intentionally. It did look like a kind of purposefully placed hint, to me.

Oh, you're right! How did I forget that? Probably been thinking about the last 6 eps too much, heh.
Damn she looks adorable.

As for the review, I read it all but... I'm guessing it's the same for anime, game, book, music and movie reviewers. After having seen such a huge amount of material (that they often have to go through just because it's their job) they seem to become incredibly jaded. I hardly ever trust professional reviews anymore, mostly preferring to rely on user reviews instead, since their experience is more in line with what mine is likely to be, not having seen as much.

This definitely adds more fuel to the "living" interpretation for me as well. Thanks for bringing it up!

I totally forgot about it as well for some reason. I guess my brain couldn't handle so much cuteness.

Your reiview was full of trivial or superficial criticisms, had no emotional component, and it was tremendously repetitive. "utter lack of class" because it shows teenagers fucking? It reads like a giant troll; why did you even post it here?

Mate, it's his opinions. Don't get angry. Calm down. We are bound to have own opinions. He just wrote what he felt when watching the series. I already anticipated some of these kind of reviews since the series showed a lot of new stuff and even more controversial subjects. (Almost hentai stuff on TV and Twincests, not to mention minor sex). Different opinions means this show is successful in capturing the individualism of the people. Discussion is so alive in this thread because of this. So calm down mate.

The main flaw I noticed with the review is the comment about it being an "uninspired execution of the source material". Beyond the simple "what is uninspired supposed to mean", it's a bit suspect because a) he doesn't know the source material to start with but just guesses it's similar, b) he doesn't talk about the branching structure of the anime presentation (which is quite unique to this show), and c) all of the things he complains about (the omnibus format, the omake, the sex scenes, etc.) are the very things that set it apart from every other run-of-the-mill eroge adaptation out there. I'm not sure that combining all the routes somehow and removing the ero content would have made it more "inspired" (again, what does that even mean?).

Other than that... a lot of people couldn't get over the omnibus format, found the omake jarring, and couldn't take the show seriously because of the sex. I don't agree... but it's an opinion. Some of the comments are a bit borderline ("utter lack of classs" and "if it is softcore porn one is looking for" for example), but this is the way people like to write reviews for some reason. It's no better/worse than whatever reviews you might find in your local paper. That's why I generally never read them and just watch whatever I damn well please.
