But let's not forget GONZO also gave us shows like Gankutsuou, Last Exile, Samurai 7, Chrono Crusade, Trinity Blade and Kiddy Grade for example. They were actually rather good even if they did have a knack for coming up with crappy finales for the shows

GONZO... Hmmm...
Two things, first of is [Black Cat], yeah so they didn't follow the original source, thankfully I never read it And the second one... Seto no Freaking Hanayome! Best comedy romance of that year and probably the year after!

Really hoping GONZO is coming back. Some of my favorite anime have been from them.
Kiddy Grade Hellsing Last Exile Gank Chrono Crusade Saikano With that being said, however, for every really good anime they made there was an equally bad one. Madhouse has this problem as well, but that's a totally differnt topic OH! There's also RxJ I guess, but I didn't find it as good as Gank, so can't say it was a favorite. |

Wonder if their CGI will have improved by the time they start doing anime again. For a studio that was so reliant on CGI during the period leading to it's collapse it sure looked like something you might expect to see in the early to mid 90's and not in the late 2000's. Yikes!

Seriously Kyoani, Bones and possibly AIC and not even a mention of Sunrise with MS Igloo which is one of the only anime I know of to be composed entirely of CGI (which arguably works far better than 2D compositing with 3D CGI)? Of course there's no argument with Square Enix, they have quite possibly the best CGI work of any company in Japan. Weird thing is Gonzo has shown they can do some arguably defining CGI work with Last Exile, which looked fantastic for the time it came out and to this day has some of the most breathtaking shots of the sky I've ever seen in anything. Those backgrounds were just beautiful. |

2013 seems to be Gonzo's busiest year in a while. I am enjoying this season's Zettai Bouei Leviathan and I am sure some are looking forward to either of Gonzo's series this summer(A Town Where You Live; Dog & Scissors).
I wonder how people would feel if the Full Metal Panic! 15th anniversary annoucement was GONZO doing the next anime of it (I somehow think the Dragon Magazine annoucement will be a manga-related annoucement) but given that Gonzo seems to be getting work again, they would probably be more able to do it that Kyoto Animation, who seems to be adapting crap they own these days than finishing what they should finish.
