Judging from screenshots, it's not 1080p, but it looks a lot better than just an upscale from standard definition.

http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?p=1896591
this thread has decided it's in 720p.

It's not Q-Tec, it's Sony PCL, but it sure looks confusingly similar. Go ahead and cancel.

Well, well. I guess I'll just stick with the DVDs and save about 200 bucks in the process. Or maybe I'll wait until the price drops down. Either way, there's no way I'm paying full price for an upscale.

^You have to know what you're watching, Jesus. Mirai Fukuin is way bigger and more complicated than the epilogue, there's no way it would fit in a 30 minute OVA.

Anyway, I'm laughing with the ufotable troll. Not that it matters since when this price gets near normal I'll buy it anyway.

About the epilogue...

This is like Gladiator... most disappointing. Need to hear from someone who actually played it on their TV. Anyone??

Thanks for the link, quite helpful.

Because if it is 720p, then that means they weren't greedy with their upscale and it might not look that bad.

Where did you get the DVDs from?

French retailer. It's been licensed last year over here, so only the first four movies are available for now though. I haven't bought the latest one yet as I wasn't sure whether to sell them and get the BD-box, or just continue buying the DVDs...

Is there a slight chance those French DVD's come with English subtitles? I know the answer to this, though might as well ask.

Crud... I can't play those without hooking up a spare DVD player and changing it's region.

Really need to hear from someone who has actually watched it and not looked at screenshots.

As you guessed, nope. Sorry.

I don't really suggest that either way, as the french subs themselves for KnK aren't particularly impressive to begin with (well, when you see "by the creators of Fate/Stay Night and Ufotable" on the cover already, you wonder what's up with the staff taking care of that).

Just finished watching the epilogue. Stunning as expected, with an incredible performance by Maaya Sakamoto. The few new Yuki Kajiura pieces were always upto KnK standards.

Now that's watched, time to rewatch the films again.

I don't own a TV, nor a standalone Bluray player. People who buy DVD's or Blurays to actually watch them must be living in 2005 or something.

On my monitor it looks like what it is, a bad upscale. Other than that it's certainly better than the DVD's, but not so much that it warrants paying 360 euros for it.

edit: it's sorta funny though because in some scenes (rather few) it looks more like this or this. If the entire thing had looked like that I'd been a-ok with it, but unfortunately most of it looks like the other screenshots in there do.

Well, it certainly is over priced, but it is manageable for me right now. I think I am still going to get it though. Who knows if it will still be available for me in the future, or if the price will drop. Knowing my luck, it will. But the last time I decided to wait, I ended up regretting it (Zeta Gundam), so yeah.

Some people don't mind the hassle of discs, like myself.
