They're already starting into the davy back fight?? Wow, that was quick. I didn't expect them to start that already. I was expecting a bunch more filler. o_0

I have heard a lot of talking about the pirate's summit and I know it's mentioned in the Stephen's tranlation but I don't think it's actual meeting. Ace said「次に会う時は 海賊の高みだ」which I would roughly translate "the next time we meet it's at the height of pirates". Although I wouldn't trust my poor Japanese I would say it's kinda like they will meet again when Luffy is among the best of pirates (in the second half of Grand Line?).

Okama and Franky could make a cute couple.

They've already added more than ten episodes of filler. To add more would be inviting Kenshin death, if you know what I mean.

I figure they'll now animate the Davy Back Fight arc (really drawn out, like Naruto) and then add more filler before starting the new Water 7 arc.

Although, now that I think about it, there's no denying that they're catching up to the manga, fast! However, this is inevitable. The manga had a long head start (3 years, if I'm not mistaken) yet it has still caught up. The only thing they can do is add just as much filler as story (oh, the horror) or to, somehow, slow the pace of the show to that of the manga. It seems to be very hard for anime to move as slowly as manga. Or, they could take a break...

Manga Discussion: Chapter 341

actually i think they will extend certain things and add to some. if they do what they did with loguetown ill be happy. that was without a doubt the best filler. i was shocked to find out the manga was not like that. although if they were smart it be a nice time to shove some of those mini arc stories in here between the davy fight and water 7. but wishful thinkingl.

Actually, doing 2 chapters a week wouldn't be all that hard really. I realize it's a bloody nightmare to do more than one chapter a week after talking with some people here, but there's nothing that says he couldn't have ramped up the pace a bit and started beating deadlines cold for the past 6 months knowing that the anime was rapidly catching up to the manga. For all we know he's 9 chapters ahead. This way he could surprise everyone with either dual chapter releases for the next couple of months, or a whole suprise volumn in one shot. Sure, that would just totally shoot his lead in the foot, but if he got used to the pace and kept it up, given 6-12 weeks he could once again be 8-9 chapters ahead again. That'd be his only way to stay ahead of the anime.
